What do they have to reflect on? Those policies have made a fair number of conservative businessmen and politicians a shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitload of money. "I better stop supporting these billionaires who have made me a millionaire and instead help these poor people who can't give me diddly squat but will vote me out of office the second a billionaire tells them to" said no politician ever. What's the incentive to change a system that has led these people to greater wealth than they could have ever imagined? Morality doesn't pay the bills, and it turns out yachts can get expensive.

You can't destroy the apparent dream that all Republicans think they might be a member of that extremely exclusive club of millionares, and would be hit with a huge tax bill. Otherwise, whats the point in living.

One of the most remarkable things about it is the way Kansas Repubs are actually engaged in deficit spending to support their little adventure, depleting what started out as a nice fat reserve fund. OTOH, they'll claim that deficits don't spur growth. Funny that.

They're doing the same thing cutting pension payments, creating future deficits for today's tax cuts.

The answer? Beat down the little guy with more point of sale taxes, reduce pensions, anything else they can manage to keep tax cuts at the top including taking their own judicial system hostage.

The relative effectiveness of their co-religionists in Congress puts the double whammy on Kansas' poorest school districts, of course-

Shee-it, Sherlock- they'll have Kansas picked clean before their well indoctrinated electorate knows what hit 'em.

It's a good thing they get large subsidies from the hated federal govt, I guess- notice that the big guys get the lion's share, of course-

And it continues to get better, the house passed a budget that has a $400M hole in it. The senate is looking like its going to adopt a budget with a 6% across the board cut to close the gap.

The Repubs want to starve and neuter into compliance the beast that represents the government of, for and by the people before they can put into effect their long sought after dream of creating their oligarchic version of Shangri-La.

Of course, that includes having a State Religion to keep the masses pacified, AND a very well oiled domestic surveillance and security service to, you know...... protect and serve.............................the oligarchy ;)
