I agree with the op, the outrage needs to be especially directed towards obama and his supporters
Obama certainly deserves blame for a distinct lack of leadership. However the "fiscal cliff" is a direct outcome of the temper tantrum thrown by the Tea Party brand of Republicans over the summer of 2011. None of the other players carry as much of the burden of guilt as the Tea Party brand and its nihilistic ideology.

and thats the bigger issue. It was not just Obama. it was ALL politicians. both Dems and Republicans.

they have gone from wanting to do what is best for the nation to doing whats best for them. they are so intent on makeing t hemselves looking better they are acting fucking stupid. they think this is going to hurt the other party. both are wrong.

frankly the US needs a real wake up call. hopefully this is it. we need to move beyond just looking at the letter after someones names.

LOL, no, Greece got fiscally proactive, reigned in on tax evasion, spending and raised taxes to avoid the situation you did a long time of absolutely nothing to get into.

Don't compare yourselves to the Greeks, they managed to ride the storm and are almost out of it, you created yours and refuse to acknowledge the existence of it no matter what.

Don't worry though, no rich man will go unrewarded in this, TRUST me on this, not even one.

Right now I have a similar opinion to the OP.

The politicians in washington have mush for brains and fail at basic math. OR they are trying to ruin any last shred of financial stability we might have left, and the people with mush for brains are those voting for these goons over and over again.

I wish. The only fix is really to eliminate career politicians: no pension, term limits, you are only paid money if taking office cuts off your main source of income and so forth. Having judges who spend their time reading case law is one thing. People who have been in office for 40 years is unacceptable.

Was that before or after the EU bailouts which forced them to act to take care of their debts before they got any more money to fund their government? I do agree with you that Greece did act but only because they were mandated to act by those lending them money to bail them out and even then there were riots in the street and a party advocating that they default on their obligations to their EU partners. However I do agree with the notion that we are screwed in the US but just remember that our inability to deal with our debt woes will hit everyone world wide. This mess is not going to end well and sadly people who only look at petty political brownie points will get blind sided when the finally the debt ridden shit hits the fan.

The problem is with us for allowing the dominant party in nearly every state to gerrymander districts. All but a relative handful of Congressional seats are "safe" meaning the incumbent's only worry is from a more radical challenge in the primary. This effectively bars any compromise and nearly all effect Congressional action.

The present Congress is the most lowest rated one in history. My prediction-the next session (starting in January) will be worse. We are facing another debt ceiling crisis in a few weeks plus the spending cuts that were pushed down the road in the currently pending so-called resolution. Obama and the Dems traded away their trump card now by making 98% of the Bush tax cuts permanent, they now have no bargaining tools against the teabaggers.

No matter who the President is this government-in its current form-is essentially ungovernable. The saddest thing is those that most loudly proclaim themselves to be the most patriotic are doing their best to DESTROY the USA as quickly as possible.

Oh, and BTW, Happy New Year.

^^^^this we've all allowed the vote to be essentially rigged by allowing districts be drawn using computer voting models. Most in government have essentially safe seats they can't lose. This is not what we are about it has to change

The only path to changing it is secession.

The federal gov is ungovernable, the Congress impassible. So you simply go around them. They only have as much power as you give them. Take it back from them, and the nation is cured of their illness.

Personally I am of the opinion that there should have been no Christmas vacations or days off until this was resolved. Want time off or want to spend time with your families? Stop fucking the American public over!
