i like my current setup, 2 computers, 2 monitors and one 50" plasma
both computer are on one lcd and the plasma
i use a bluetooth keyboard and 'mouse without borders' so i can use both computers on each lcd without changing like you have to with a KVM

What resolution was the 32?

At 30" 2560x1600 is pushing my tolerance on large pixel size. I would like to have a 30-40" "retinal" display aka iphone 4 density. So what if it costs $250k right now what are your eyes worth? ;)

It's nice to set the bar high on wishes/dreams. It may be here before you know it. :)

Do they make larger than 30" IPS panels right now?

well 2048x1536 meets the mark on pixel density if the rumor is true:D too bad its only for a 10"display though lol

30in laptop screen? That would be awesome as a sort of comical desktop replacement but not exactly practical to carry around. :D

No, that would be Macbook Pro 30. :p

What I meant is I was disappointed that the 17" was not an IPS panel.

They were rumoring about that with the second iteration. Hopefully the CPU/GPU is powerful enough to push that resolution and it should be 16:10 in a tablet device. ;)

Do it. For productivity it's better than an SSD. Much, much better. When I was redoing my system, I went without an SSD and my second monitor for a few days. Without the SSD the computer felt slow. Without the second monitor I literally felt half-blind.

once you do, you'll never go back
Second.

I wish I had a quad-monitor setup at work.
And dual mice.
And some manner of foot pedals for keys commonly used for combos, like Ctrl. Standard interfaces are too slow :awe:, and my damn joints are wearing out.:\

Been running duals since the feature appeared in Windows 98. Never, ever going back.

PS - I'm running triple monitor at work and have been for almost 5 years now. Dual 23 inch 16:10 and a single 19 inch 4:3 to be exact.

I couldn't imagine going without it.

home: play a video game/watch a movie on one monitor, surf the web on another (look up maps, read forums while on a flight path in WoW, etc)

working from home: run a program on one monitor, surf the net on the other while watching said program run

I've got a 24" and 19" monitor... the 24" is my work/gaming screen and I use the smaller monitor for surfing the web.

Dual monitors are pretty good. I think i might be willing to settle for one big monitor, but right now I got a 22" and a 20" and I've been pretty pleased with them. Movie on one usually, browsing on the other.

For work : Actual documentation i'm working on in one, email, apps, and any research I need to do on the other so I can keep my documentation open..

I have a 20" and a 22" (1680x1050 and 1920x1080, respectively). I use the 20" for secondary browsing, movie/tv watching and watching IRC channels while gaming on the 22", which is where my primary Chrome window and mIRC window lives. I could never go back to a single monitor.

This is no question. Dual Monitor is good, but Triple monitor is ohh so much better.

can get 21.5 inch monitors that can handle 1080p for cheap these days... (though to game on 5760x1080 you will need to spend a bit on a video card...)

good for basic tasks. bad for gaming.

I miss it sometimes, but I can deal without it. While I game, it was pretty much useless.

Dual monitors was awesome for some things
Supreme Commander worked with 2 different nonsimilar resolution monitors ... you could have 2 overviews, or a big minimap on one and overview on the either, or pretty much whatever you wanted.

Flight Simulators, was nice to have GPS and/or spot view on 2nd monitor with main cockpit view on the main window ...

MMO's ... was nice to have Ventrillo up on it's own screen so you could easily see who was connected or talking at any given time ...

That said ... 3 monitors is way, way, way better :)

I use 3 - 21.5" Dell IPS monitors at work. Great for video editing and after effects work.

I set up two Samsung monitors next to each other. To my horror, the minute I turned them on, they faced oned another and started fighting and trying stab each other with swords!

It turns out I accidentally installed a duel monitor setup.
