To Dell or not to Dell, that is the question

The Envision has a much better contrast ratio and a better response time. Don't get caught up in the Dell hype. I owned the 2001fp and if you like dark games like Doom3, Thief series, etc., you'll be sorely disappointed. Dark scenes are very poorly rendered. Response time is a different matter.....the Envision is 4 ms faster but sometimes that stat can be misleading. In any case, I got rid of the Dell and couldn't do it fast enough.

UM, buy the Dell LCDs with no qualms....and great warranty, granted you will have to hassle the crap out of them sometimes for even basic issues to be resolved - such as honoring warranty, or correct oupons, but they WILL honor all obligations eventually.

The "to dell or not to dell" for me was more of a political question. Do I support a company that cares more about a quick buck rather than what's best for the consumer? Do I support a company with no true testes to go up against Intel?

The answer, was sadly, made with my wallet, but I can't say that I regret it terribly as my love my XPS2 and my 2405FPW

See sig... Dell PDAs ( Axim x50v is my friend :) ) = Yes, Dell laptops = Yes, Dell 2001FP, 2005FPW ( watch for backlighting!! ), or 2405FPW = Yes ... if you can snag one of the online coupon codes for 25 to 35% off. Dell PCs = NO.

The 2001FP IS older, so there are better LCDs out there now. I would consider the Envision if the prices are very close.
