I've just ordered the parts for a new PC from newegg.com, based on the iWill KT133A (RAID) motherboard. I decided to go with an SDRAM system because the motherboard was (marginally) cheaper, and my limited investigation seemed to suggest that there wasn't much of a performance difference compared to a DDR motherboard. Now, as I obsessivly check the FedEx tracking pages for my order, I'm wondering if I've made the right choice; should I have gone with a DDR board after all? If I want to upgrade in a year, will I have to buy a new motherboard? New RAM ?
Am I still safe with my KT133 chipset, or is not getting a motherboard that supports DDR RAM already a bad move?I'm building my first PC from these parts, and I'd like to make sure they're the right ones. Thanks for your advice!

it probably doesn't really matter that much, but if you are worried about it then you better get the ddr system because then you will have no regrets. and ddr ram is pretty cheap right now

The hardware prices for SDRAM components and DDR components are not that different. I would have ordered DDR stuff.

I just purchased 256MB of DDR PC2100 from Crucial. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to wait to use it until the Athlon 4 and nForce come out. :)

Not ot make you feel worse or anything, but I would've also gone DDR. The price of DDR is identical to regular SDRAM from crucial. The only difference is the slightly more expensive motherboard, but this added cost is worth the performance improvements of DDR SDRAM.

Also, the DDR SDRAM will be able to be used in your next upgrade such as that new chipset from nVidia and whatever faster processor is out. The benefits of DDR SDRAM will be more noticeable as the proecssor increase in speed.

But right now, the SDRAM and KT133A will suffice. It's just that the new stuff is just as cheap and will have a better chance of being used in your next upgrade.

I heard that the Morgan and Palomino core will still use Socket A. AMD has no plans changing the interface of current socket processors. It's now safe to buy KT133A or DDR mobo.
