To college students away from home..

While most of my friends are anxious to finishing the school year and going home, I really want to stay around here forever, even though I certainly want to see my family/old friends again..life around here is full of freedom, people who are around even during the latest hours of the night, and full of parties each and every night.

Going home on the other hand will probably mean long work days, no partying, really boring nights by myself..and perhaps worst of all, dial-up internet.

I'm staying in an apartment for the summer because I can't handle my parents for more than a week.

I'm home and I'd rather go back to college.

I went to a 4-year university and lived on campus for one semester. I didnt like it much and I missed all of my old friends,etc. I left after that semester to attend a Community College near my house. Now I am transfering again to a University but I will be living at home. The school is only about 30 minutes away. I much rather prefer home than a dorm.

Well college is long past, but back in the bronze era when I went, being away was much better for me. My family makes other dysfunctional families look normal and being away from them was the greatest possible blessing for me.

I always stuck around for the summer semester, as well as a few holidays. I just usually had more fun hanging out with my college buds and managing my own life, and there was only so much of my parents/hometown that I could take.

In fact, I liked it so much I'm thinking about going back to school.

I can do all the stuff you mentioned while still living at home. My parents were very lax during high school and pretty much let me run wild as long as I got good grades.

When I left for college I couldn't wait to leave but now that I've been gone I wouldn't mind moving back for a few reasons. Free rent, free food, no utilities to pay, no cable bill, laundry machine that doesn't cost money. Since my lifestyle would not change and my parents wouldn't bother me I wouldn't mind moving back. Although of course it has drawbacks being that I can't have any parties or friends getting blitzed on the law till 5 am because my parents do have to work.

 

AT home now. Summer at my school tends to be boring from what I hear. However, I'm thinking of just moving back early into my house and staying there until I'm done with school (except holidays). I enjoy my parents, but I think I like the TOTAL freedom of school...plus I tend to be a bit more productive down there. I think the only thing keeping me in town at this point is friends and my girlfriend.

I'd rather go home, get a job, save up and afford to move out. College sucks because being broke and always worrying about money sucks.

just graduated college and moved out of home into an apartment. I definitely loved being away at college. Home is boring.

home has its perks, like free everything and parents to feed you, but you are also more limited in what you can do.

Nothing quite beats the feeling of being out on your own.

It's a hard decision. On the one hand, being at school means freedom, more going on, my friends and all that. For me "home" is somewhere I haven't spent more than a few weeks at a time, EVER. My parents moved at the end of last summer, so this summer will be the longest I've spent here by far, and I really don't know all that many people/things to do around here.

However, "here" is Northern Cali (wine country in fact), and I just turned 21. Things are looking up

the cool supervenient thing about it is that it can strengthen your relationship with the 'rents... less contact = less abrasion and conflicts

the first thing I did at home was ordered optimum online. I certainly missed that.

I return home for the summer, but I enjoy living in the dorm where there is plenty of privacy

I left home to go to college and dont go back. simple. when the dorms close...

I have to go places...
