I personally will use cheats if I want to beat a game I'm not enjoying quickly but semi interested in the story.

Also I will cheats after beating a game like skyrim or fallout just to screw around.

Games aren't fun to me if there is no challenge so I don't really use cheats. I will use them if I'm just screwing around, but if I'm playing through a game for the first time I don't do it.

I don't cheat, but I always play it on easy. I'm not necessarily looking for a challenge when playing games, more just entertainment. I'm fine dying a few times in a level, but I don't find it entertaining to die at the same spot 10 times over.

I don't have as much time to play games as I used to so I will use cheats if needed to advance past a particularly tough spot. Single player only though. I like a good challenge but sometimes the difficulty spikes in games are ridiculous. Take NIOH for example. I am in the 4th region and am having a blast, but it took me over 5 hours to beat one of the sub-missions even though I was massively overleveled for it. The mission involved fighting one of the boss samurai 1 on 1 - only this time he was massively overpowered compared to the level in which he originally appeared. Frustrating

i also tend not to play games again immediately, so i crank up the difficulty (not all the way up to whatever the game calls 'nightmare' mode though)

I also pretty much have only played fighting games the past few years against live opponents, so it's not really feasible to cheat either.

I play games to have fun. If I'm mostly having fun but there's some aspect that is hindering me, I don't mind using a cheat to remove that factor.

I "cheat" by exploiting game glitches or AI flaws, but no hacks or similar crap.

I'll cheat my ass off if I'm stuck because of bad design or a bug, but that's pretty much it. After a couple playthroughs I'll also give myself a mid-level character on new saves just to skip the grind. That works really well for things like Skyrim that automatically scale everything to your level.

I get enough challenges during the day. When I sit down to game, I'm there to beat up on some hapless victims. I load up on weapons. Less frustration, more satisfaction.
Thing is, when you return to normal gameplay, you feel so ill equipped.

I've been cheating at games since I got a Game Genie for NES. Games were hard then. I haven't found a need to cheat in recent times, other than for open world RPGs. The thing that triggers it is me being a completionist. When I can't carry anymore in my inventory and the game forces me to walk slow until I empty it, I know full well I'm just going to keep picking stuff up, or make multiple trips to town and back to loot absolutely everything, so I just turn on God mode.

Then sometimes I forget to turn it off for the rest of the playthrough.

-> gaming forums.

It wasn't specific to pc or consoles. And there is no general gaming forum
