To change Windows OS keys and slipstream for unattended.

Situation:

I own a copy of Windows XP SP1 but I want to download and use a customized and slimmed down version. 99% of those you can download will not validate with Windows Genuine Advantage checking so I would like to change the key on one downloaded and use my own legit key. No I don't want to spend the hours to create my own. I can have a real XP copy thats been slimmed for performance by someone who's sharing it with me - I wont get into how or where for reasons I'm sure are obvious.

I have that key and an OEM WinXP Home version but that has no key I dont think and I'd have to extract it and work on it - not ready for all that fuss.

Guess the question is: Anyone know where I can get the tools to change my Windows OS key out and slipstream mine in? Would Nlite do all of this?

I'll keep searching and thank you for any replies.

Use nLite and your own Windows XP CD. I wouldn't trust a full "customized" installation CD downloaded from the internet anyway. Who knows what might be included on that disc.

If you are literally downloading Windows then you are doing so illegally. It doesn't matter if you own a copy or not.

I also get the feeling if you elaborated on "slimmed for performance" you would probably get clowned by the veterans here.

Smilin what does clowned mean in American english? You silly jerky ass...

MrChad youre probably right. I'll go by what people have removed and make my own. Sounds safer.

I still need to Nlite the key right? It's just a regular XP Pro and not corporate.

My Windows Home is on an HP laptop cd set and I have no clue as to how it could be distracted.

Appreciated
