To celeron or not

What's the deal on P4 versus celeron. Is the celeron architecture really that inferior. I seem to have some innate fear of buying a celeron. Can someone straighten me out on this one.

dont buy one, unless you only do office applications where speed doesn't matter and budget is the key!
expect a celeron to be about 65% as fast in games as the equivalent P4 (100 fps comes 65)
