I was thinking, has anyone tried to get on the show purposely? Although I think the show has a good purpose, its on the line between being legal and entrapment.

It seems like from the show that it's illegal to actually show up for the act of sex, but not talk about it online. What if I talked to the girl, but a couple of my friends showed up instead and asked if Chris Hansen was present. They never solicited for sex, would they still get arrested? The only reason I think they could get arrested is for trespassing.

Of course, I would probably never do this because of the bad rep I'd get. But I was wondering about the legality of it. Is screwing around on the internet pretending you want to sex a 14 year old illegal?

More than likely if your friends actually found the "secret" location, they would be arrested for trespassing or be escorted out of the property for "unknown reasons."

I've already thought of this. stay tuned.

The first thing is being able to figure out when and where they do their stings. The only way to possibly do that is volunteer for perverted justice, or date that chick or the heavy fat dude.

the biggest problem is you've broken the law already if you start acknowledging certain things during the chat, such as their age, and your inclinations.

For instance, THe peeps at perverted justice will say "I'm 14" and will try to get you to acknowledge that they are 14. SO you now now that the child is 14. If you don't say you want to do sexual things, perverted justice will end the convo. If you do say you want to do sexual things, in some states you have broken the law, regardless of whether or not it's a prank. So before you even show up, you have broken the law.

The best thing to do is buy a laptop off craigslist, go wardrive somewhere and start to do this. Never use your own pc or your own nework, or a network where you can be traced. then find a homeles bum and offer $$ to take pics of him naked. use those pics to send to the undercover agent. arrange to show up at the undercover agent's house, then pay the bum more $$$ to show up at the house with an ATOT shirt on.

If you can find a bum that is drunk, all the better, it should make for good TV when Chris Hansen accuses the bum of "making up" a story that somebody paid them money to do this.

Don't forget to mention that you're a rabbi in the chatroom.

The very act of the online conversations is illegal, it's called soliciting a minor.

The friends would be arrested but then later let go when they found out it wasn't them.

It's not entrapment because the cops do nothing to ENTICE the men to talk to them, that would be entrapment. Instead they just create the profile and let the men message them first.

Not exactly. Entrapment is when LEO pressures a person into doing something they normally wouldn't do. Simply providing a way to commit a crime is not entrapment if they were going to do it anyway.

So for example, if they just said they were a 14y.o. girl and nothing else, they could message people first all day long.

For an entrapment defense to work, the LEO really would've had to put the idea in their head and basically coerce them into doing something illegal.

What if someone under the age of 18 talked perverted justice and lies about their age. Does that mean perverted justice solicited a minor.

no, because perverted justice never initiates a sexual convo

solicitation is done when the solicitor initiates the sexual conversation

That's the real way how they try to stay away from any cries of entrapment. I think legally this is where the line starts to blur, but IANAL so don't quote me on whether they absolutely cannot or can. Just that this is what they do to avoid things.

Starting a general conversation is fine. Starting the sexual aspect of the conversation is when the sh!t hits the fan.

It would be cool to make a YouTube video like TCAP, but when the pervert comes to the house instead of Chris Hansen popping out, a guy in a ski mask appears blows the dude's head off right on camera. It would all be fake of course, but put it out there like it's real and see if it goes viral and makes any perverts think twice.

why fake? I think the news agencies reporting a story like that would make a lot more child predators think, at least, twice

Just make sure you dont get caught :p
