I live in Atlanta and theres a guy who lives in my apt. comlex who has NY plates. Thats not atypical for Atlanta there are a lot of NYers here. What is different is that it is an old style NY plate. These plates have been eliminated in NY (I know this because I am from NY originally).

This means his car isn't registered in Georgia or NY. This also means he probally doesn't have insurance in either place.

Should I report him or not. On one hand its not any of my buisness on the other hand people driving without insuranse suck as it raises premiums for all of us.

In NJ they don't give you new plates when they change them. Is it an old car?

people in VA tattle on people for this all the time... bc if its not registered they are getting out of paying their car tax. misery loves company.

OTOH, people driving w/o insurance are idiots, and make things difficult for those that do

This sounds like a good idea. OP, since you are in his business already. Be a man about it and tell him you have been watching him and paying attention to him. Tell him you know he has been driving illegally and you are going to the proper authorities.

Why be a little pussy (in this instance) and report people if you cant stand behind what you've done.

It has nothing to do with personally confronting the guy. It has everything to do with protecting everyone *else* by reporting him before he fvcks something up without the financial backing/responsibility to cover repairs.

Most in this thread would bitch about minding their own business then immediately reverse their dumbass opinion the second he hits THEM.

Nik, I understand completely where you are coming from, believe me. However, there is a grey area here which should be considered.

What gray area is that? I don't see how it's his legal responsibility to do anything more than report a crime being committed to the authorities.

I completely agree.

Innocent until proven guilty, remember?

Of course you're going to reverse your opinion when an uninsured driver hits "YOU". In that case, he deserves what he has comming to him because he's been in an accident.

Until then, he is innocent.

Because how does the OP know 100% without a doubt that he is in fact driving illegally? That is why I suggested confronting the guy and then doing whats necessary.

EDIT: By the way, I have been hit twice by uninsured drivers and it doesnt change my opinion at all.

It is not up to the OP to determine guilt. A judge will do that. The OP's civic responsibility is to look out for his fellow citizens.
