To Build or NOT to Build that is the question

well here goes IM cheap i dont like to spend money much and like many i see on here there is NO way i would drop 2k on a computer

right now i use
athlon xp 2100+
512 mb corsair xms 333 memory
80 gig hd 7200
ecs kt600A mainboard
radeon 9500 pro card
420 watt tt
cheap antec case
i built this computer like 2 1/2 years ago and it has served well but i can feel it being much slower then that other comp in the house (3.0 p4 full gig ddr 400)

im thinking of selling the processor , motherboard , memory , and video card on ebay then
buy a 939 socket gforce 6100 board (leaning twards biostar 6100) , AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice 1GHz FSB 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 Processor, and a full gig of OCZ 512MB(x2) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) System Memory

so it would cost me about 270 dollars for these 3 parts and keep my current case,ps,hd,dvdrw drive. so 270 minus what my parts sell for on ebay.

If i do this will i notice a big diffrence in say decrypting and encoding dvd ? or in general compter use >?

any thoughts helpfull keep in mind im cheap 😀 thank you all and have a wonderfull day

sorry guys i had to edit the message as i by accident hit enter right after the topic and posted a blank message <----- feels a bit stupid at the moment

If media decoding/encoding is your main concern, a dual core processor would be best for that. A 3800+ will cost roughly twice as much as a 3200, but it will finish the job in almost half the time, as well as give you more multi-tasking freedom while you're decoding/encoding/burning.

It's satirical. 🙂

Yeah, I'm selling crap on ebay myself. Hehehehe.

To build yeah. Once you learn you can switch motherboards etc anytime. That's a pretty big advantage instead of buying a new computer.

That should give you a nice boost in encoding over what you have now, but like somebody else already mentioned the X2 3800+ would be far superior.
