I heard that Athlon does not take advantage of higher mem. speed... that is why P4 1.7 kicks its ass in memory benchmark.. so... P4 is too much right now.. AMD is cheap... but why go DDR with AMD when u cant even tell the diff when it does not even take advantage like the P4 is... bottleneck for P4 was memory.. and now they can use DDR.. no prob...

Help me out guys.. i need 2 systems by in 2 weeks and i need to order NOW!! Non DDR motherboards are cheaper and nicer .. thinking about MSI K7 Turbo... but DDR mobo... very VERY IFFY!!! still very immature in its stage... i might be wrong on the whole idea of this.. help me out guys...

ddr is cheap now, and even if current apps dont take advantage of it,( very little performance gain with ddr over sdr) given some time when new apps come out they will require more bandwidth, thats when the ddr will shine.

You should go with the DDR. Why?

DDR memory prices have dropped almost to where the SDRAM is. Also the DDR boards are only $30+ more than the KT133A boards.

When Benchmarking memory with SiSoft Sandra the DDR doubles the SDRAM, but gets whooped by the P4 RDRAM. However when you Benchmark the CPUs the 1.2Ghz Athlon vs the 1.4 P4 the Athlon actually beats it in some marks and if you overclock the 1.2 to 1.4Ghz it blows the P4 away in the benchmarks. Especially when you compare performance relative to price.

And the way things are changing you may as well go with the latest.

Ok.. DDR it is... I have been reading lots of threads about which MOBO to go with... i wanna OC the 1.333 266mhz to whatever possible... do i have to connect the L1 Bridge on the cpu?? kinda scary to mess around with $200 unit of device u know... what Heatsink is the best for the money for Ocing that sucker???

Case?? I need major help..My limit is around 80 bucks MAXINUM on a case..

Ok.. Ocing the AMD 1.333.. lots of talk about which MOBO.. still confused guys.. people like this and that for all kind of reasons... ok.. im looking for bang for buck.. easy OCing and STABILITY... and of course performance.. am i asking too much?? HHEHEH

What do you guys think about teh VIA Vs. AMD 760 chipset.... does it really matter??
confused.. yet i need to get a system NOW NOW NOW!!!!! (actually 2 of the identical..)

Price cap on the system is around 1200... nice monitor will be nice on top of that.... so maybe stretch it to 1500?? a 19inch KDS?? Staples PM?? heheh

I dont need speakers, keyboard, mouse, sound card, vid card,....
just need a bone

DDR, MOBO, HD (ATA100), CDR 12 or 16x (plextor @Newegg.com), CPU, Case, Zip drive, Floppy, extra fans, Heatsink, all for under 1200??? possible??
