fearofthenight, the satisfaction rate of the iphone is really high. as far as service goes, it's just like choosing any service provider. you will hear all sorts of different stories because everyone lives in different areas.

to get the best feedback, you'll just have to find the feedback from people around your area. AT&T 3g coverage may be spotty in some locations. just look at the service map available on their site to find out how your area is.

Wife has had it for 2 weeks and hasnt reported any problems so far. I used it too and it felt like I was browsing on my home wi-fi network.

I've had it since it came out, and the reception has been pretty bad. I had the original iphone before that and the reception was way better. I also had AT&T prior to the original iphone and my reception was always pretty good. Not only do I have less bars (I have 3 bars at work in Manhattan and 1 or 2 bars at home in Queens), but data is very slow too. It feels sometimes that my edge speed was faster than the 3G speed.

im in the same area. (live in queens) i dont have an iphone (sprint blackberry 1xEV which is decent enough for me) but i always find it weird that in apple stores the iphone data loads so fast (i use google maps to test). is it because they're using the local wifi in the apple store? any way to find out if they are using wifi or 3g?

If they're using either wifi or 3G then the icon will show up on top. I think last I checked the apple store on 5th Ave in NY was using wifi.
