Before i buy, i would like to know,if i have a problem with (Samsung or KDS)monitor. Will i be responsible for shipping charges? I am going to buy online btw. KDS AV line are covered by "kares". i know when you get a good one you'll be happy, but i know some have had to return a few times to get a good one. Who cover's the shipping in this case?

yeah and they're expensive... i return many monitors to viewsonic and stuff and always had to pay except for the one that got return twice, ie they didn't fix right then they'll shell out for it... UPS ground and pack really well... i hate returning large item.. cost too much...

A friend recently bought a KDS-AV195T, and the return shipping is covered for the firt 90 days. After that, you pay. I would imagine this would vary by manufacturer.

Well Samsung it is then. I don't want to have to spend additional money to make sure i get a good one. Samsung seem's to keep everyone happy, and i havn't read too many post's where people are sending thier's back.

I had a problem recently with a Viewsonic Monitor I got off U-bid. The U-bid shipping was $70, but the cool thing was (after my mom was pretty abrupt with both companies on the phone) we got back the U-bid shipping (because fed-ex delayed the shipping for 2 weeks) and Viewsonic came to pickup the broken monitor and send the new one for free. So we actually saved money (I paid only $191 for a FP790 19" :) ). So hooray for Viewsonic and U-bid and boo for Fed-ex.

These days a 3 year onsite warenty isnt unheard of, but if its a return to base warenty its your job to get it to base, think of it as a game of tribes, or dont.

I had to pay 70 bucks on my G400 I got from ubid.com, but it still only totaled $323. And it works fine as well.

I wouldn't worry about KDS's warranty. It and Samsung's are similar and very good. If it is defective they will pay to ship a new one and to get the old one back within a period of 90 days. One or the other might be slightly different but both have good warranties and you shouldn't have to pay shipping.

It should be longer than 90 days. If it just breaks a while after you have to pay full shipping, if it's not your fault it broke, but instead they built bad quality.

KDS says they'll pay for return shipping within the first 90 days. Some manufacturers cover this for the 12 months, and for some more expensive monitors (including Mitsubishi, I believe, but not NEC) for all 3 years.

I returned a Viewsonic PF790 from the used-to-be Onvia and they sent some guys from UPS to pick it up. Free for me that one time at least.

Also, you could find out if you have an authorized repair near where you live, for my Optiquest(Viewsonic) its just a couple miles, Id rather drive it over than ship anyway.

Speaking about Warranty of Monitors that pay the return shipping, does the Sony Monitor Warranty include return shipping as well? Or is it a POS like the other Sony Warranties? (i.e. Warranty's for Laptops)

<< does the Sony Monitor Warranty include return shipping as well? >>

From my experience - NO! I was fortunate enough to have a Sony repair facility about 30 minutes away from my home so I took the monitor to them. But, when the repair facility didn't do that good of a job with the repair, I was able to have Sony FedEx some new monitors - yes, more than one, to me. They also picked up the FedEx tab to get the bad ones out of my garage. Then, when one of the new ones still experienced some of the same issues, I got them to buy the damn thing back and the check included the original shipping charges from when I first purchased the monitor.

I have a viewsonic pf790 i had to return, their policy was free return shipping and a new monitor within the first 30 days, after that you have to pay for shipping and you get a refurb. Luckily i was in the first 30... For nec just call their customer support, they can help you.
