It was a phenomonal play, but it was a dumb play. 9 out of 10 times that ball is picked. I bet you he doesn't try something like that again.
how much you wanna bet?

I'll bet on this. IF he's dumb enough to try something like that again, it gets picked off. 🙂
OK, Mr. Expert, you're on. I won't even ask for 9 to 1 odds, just 3 to 1 since you're so sure. I'll put up $50. We'll have to decide on an honest go between, but I'm gonna' love taking your money! 😉😛

McNabb has the second lowest interception percentage in NFL history, but, then, you knew that, right?

Did you see that play? NOBODY makes plays that EVER. I am not taking anything away from McNabb, I think he's great. But 9 times out of 10, a pass like that gets picked off in the NFL.
McNabb's career interception record speaks for itself. He knew what he was doing. And YES, I saw the play. That juke stutter on Strahan, all while running full tilt and looking PAST Strahan into the end zone waiting for one of his reads to come free was brilliant.

McNabb has the arm strength to pull that off. Few QB's can throw as long or DO throw as hard. McNabb also has the head. We all know about the dangers of such a throw -- the compact field giving many more defenders a cloaked shot at a good hidden angle for an INT, the fact that the likes of Koy Detmer wouldn't have had the arm strength to fire that ball accross his body past the possible defenders, laying a quail up for grabs, and the inherent difficulties of throwing on the run.

Donovan well knew the possible dangers, and would have easily just thrown it away if need be. He's never been one to force the ball (cough *Brett Farve* cough). I believe he saw the possiblity and took it. I believe he and T.O. are going to be sweet football synergy in motion. Both have something to prove to a skeptical general public.

Hey, listen, I'm not one of those uncritical fan boys who thinks either Donovan or Terrell is god. Donovan has always been a low percentage passer who has lacked the right touch often on short throws -- which just happens to be the supposed staple of the West Coast offense that Andy Reid runs. But I have seen Donovan put the team on his shoulders and will them to a win, doing what was necessarry to get there. I have seen him be a difference maker. I have also seen him ignore his reads and look bad. It is yet to be proven that he can take a team all the way. It is yet to be known whether he will be remembered in retrospect amongst the elite group of NFL quarterbacks. We shall see.

Owens is undeniably talented, but he has shown himself to be a whiner and a prima donna, and I'm just crossing my fingers for him this year in Philly.

One man I have no doubts about is Andy Reid. The man has molded a winning organization here.

So, The Presence, are we on for that bet?

GO EAGLES!!

Yes, we are on. If he throws another pass in the air while being smacked out of bounds (Strahan is not known for his "light" hits), across his body and halfway across the field.... yes, then we are on. 🙂 I think the only reason it wasn't picked is because the D was too shocked that he actually threw the ball.

GO GIANTS!!!!!!!
🙁

He wasn't "being smacked out of bounds" while he threw that ball, Strahan never touched him until afterwards. And he wasn't really in the air when he threw, he planted his foot against his momentum, threw the ball, and then his momentum carried him off his foot and out of bounds where he was then either touched by Strahan or not, I don't recall Let's nail this down, I want my money. 😉

Who's going to be our arbitrator here?

but even when they suck, Eagles fans refuse to face reality and are convinced that they are awesome

So do every other sports franchises fans ...so whats your point?

I just watched the replay again. Looks to me like Strahan hit him first. one thing is forsure, he did not plant his feet.

Whoever said that about Eagles fans is talking out their ass and doesn't know any true ones. Eagles fans are about the most critical (and, in general knowledgable) in the league. We were appreciating and cheering defense 20 years before most. And, again, Eagles fans are amongst the most demanding in the league, just about the opposite of uncritical.

I said that. I live in Jersey and deal with Eagle fans all the time. Most of the ones I know are rabid, clueless, McNabb is the 2nd coming type of fans. I just speak from personal experience with the fans I've known.

Well, I haven't seen it since yesterday, and that was under beer soaked circumstances in a room full of crazies with a woman next to me on the couch surreptitiously caresssing my crotch, so . . . you are better postioned to report than I.

What I remember is McNabb planting his right foot just near the out of bounds marker and pivoting on it and throwing off it while his momentum carried him up off that foot and out of bounds. Strahan was close but didn't touch him until just after he'd thrown -- if he'd been slammed by Strahan while throwing the pass would have never taken the straight, hard, true path that is did, right?

It's a matter of close timing but I believe he was both in the air and hit by Strahan just AFTER throwing the ball. I could be wrong.

Thanks, just watched it and it is EXACTLY as I remember it and just described it above. He plants, pivots and throws off his right foot and THEN his momentum carries him up off his foot and out of bounds and THEN Strahan hits him.

Plant and pivot are overstating it, but he throws off his right foot, not, as you described, "Throwing in the air", and is completing his throw before Strahan manages any leverage on him at all.

Therefore, the statement you wish to formally base your bet on, "If he throws another pass in the air while being smacked out of bounds" has two huge holes in it that I cannot accept.

Yes it's going to be a great game. I don't expect the Eagles to win or lose. I'm just gonna watch and see what happens cause it's going to be explosive!

Next week is when Eagles fans can be proud of their team. As my one friend, a Giants fan, had in his away message last night..."Its like beating up a 3rd grader". If the birds can take down the Vikes next week....then you can let the celebrations begin.

Woohoo!

😀 :music: PARTY! :music:

God DAMN that defense is good!
