i like coffee and soda, i just rarely drink them. coffee's smell lingers, and soda has a lot of calories (except diet, which doesn't taste good to me). so i don't drink them and i don't really care that much.

I'd like to say "Don't get hooked in the first place" because it's convenient for me... I've never allowed myself to get used to it, knowing that caffeine is addictive, and today I don't even consider drinking coffee/soda to wake me up. When I drink, I drink either milk or fruit juice.

Natural energy...i guess.

I get tired every once in a while...but i've never thought to "wake up" through coffee or soda. Although I do drink soda occasionally..it's not because of the caffeine.

Hey....are you stalking me? You're not old enough to the forums to remember my 200oz Speedway Mountain Dew incident. 😛

Nah. I've been reading the forums long before I joined. Honestly, the majority of the time I like reading better than posting.

I haven't had caffeine in ages. My secrets:

- Exercise, I try to do about 5-6 days a week for 2 hours or so.
- Sleep on a regular schedule and get enough of it (8-9 hours for me).
- Instead of drinking caffeine, find suitable alternatives. My favorite is carbonated water (like, Perrier).
- Healthy diet ... just generally low fat, lots of veggies, I get sugar when I need it though sometimes.

I donno if that helps at all, but I found that when I consumed caffeine I had terrible time sleeping at night or even getting to bed at night. Since I've been exercising regularly and eating well, I sleep well everynight.

I excercise, take vitamins, and have a healthy diet.

And I love caffeine. Nobody is going to take it away from me. In limited amounts it's perfectly safe and can even have some benefits.

Isn't caffeine forbade in Canada? How can you still be nationalistic towards that nation? 😛

I exercise... don't take vitamins... nor eat healthy... however I detest coffee or tea, and I drink diet schweppes ginger ale. 🙂

I've given up caffeine officially as of 5 days ago 😀 I've been getting some nice withdrawal symptoms like pounding headaches and I am very very tired when I get home from work, just wanna lay on couch and eventually fall asleep. Oh wait, I used to do that before too...

You realize, of course, you're going to have to tell us relative newbies all about that now.

I wrote a huge mini-novel (well, big thread anyway) on it back in the day...if you can find it, you get a cookie. Obviously, it's archived. 🙂

Okay, I searched for caffiene, speed, coffee, 200, Mountain, Mountain Dew and couldn't find it dammit!

I did find these though 😛 :

Anyone ever have "PEPSI MAX"?
So, I'm sitting here, drinking my Code Red...

How do you get through the day without caffeine? I used to be like LordMaul and Syringer, caffeine-aholic. But after it felt like my heart was going jump out of my chest, I decided to give it up. I've gone 9 months without caffeine. But recently, I been getting really sleepy at work and home. If I'm at work, I'll get up from the computer and take a walk to stay awake. If I'm at home, I usually just take a nap. I get 8 hours of sleep a night and exercise 4 times a week.

Just curious, how does everyone else get through the day without caffeine - exercise, vitamins, healthy diet, what's the secret?

Just have a little bit off ice tea or something. Nothing to make you jump off the walls, just make you stay awake enough. Drink water the rest of the day.

I love pop, but it is going to be the end of me. I don't want to end up a diabetic like two of my grandparents. The "experts" always are saying that the carbonation sucks the calcium out of your bones, caffeine is an addictive drug, etc. I know water is better for me, but it is just so tasteless and blah! I like gatorade, powerade, etc., but they all cost more than pop usually. At least those seem a little better for you than pop.

I don't drink Mt. Dew anymore, but still drink Pepsi and Sprite. I usually wuss out when I can't stand the withdrawal symptoms. How long should the withdrawal symptoms last i.e. the headaches?

I hate withdrawal.... I'm usually half dead saturday afternoon with a killer headache.. around 2, I'll yawn and realize that I have the headache because I haven't had caffeine

Yeah, those were fun, but not all that funny... 😉 I have no clue what happened to the MT Dew thread. It would be fun to find it again...its almost like the post is gone, along with a bunch of other ones from my 2001 era. 😕
