That is pretty awesome though ... wish they showed some games other than Halo 3.

I am amazed by anything taken to a beastly level.

Yeah, its pretty slick. I wouldn't mind a COD4 top ten.

However, upon my posting, I realized I was about a week late on this. Oh well.

Koren starcraft championship with video on demand available (including english commentary).
One match left which is the final on 1st March.
They have a stream on the internet with the english commentary. Pretty nifty.

True, but ESPN doesn't just show sports. Hell, they showed the spelling bee and MathCounts. They are just a "competition" network, and I have no problem with it being on their channels.

Is he saying his name is "Chris Fuckit"?

Anywho....that is some pretty top notch shooting and some incredible video. So much better than the 120 grit YouTube vids.

Sad....truly, truly sad. MLG? you must be fvcking kidding me!

I like how we misinterpret the recent research that shows how video games improve technical skills, especially in young surgeons who seem to take to advanced techniques faster if they have some experience playing video games. The hard-core gamers take this as a defense for their lifestyle: "Look, it actually improves worthwhile skillzzz!"

My question then, would be: How many of these worthwhile skills do you utilize? Are these actually improving your surgery technique, or do you still waste your life away playing fvcking video games? Thought so... :D

Poker is awesome to watch. I don't go out of my way to watch it, but Friday/Saturday nights when nothing else is on I enjoy it a lot.

This is really good quality for streaming video, a lot of fast action, but it's still very clear.

This could be the first league site that REALLY brings it to the mainstream.

It WILL happen. Maybe not this year or next, but online gaming will be huge in the future.

If you can get paid for it, why not? Professional gaming is miles away from merely "hardcore gaming". Professional gamers don't play to get better at other activities, they play to get better at playing.

And who justifies playing games as training for real-life skills? Gaming is an end unto itself. The research you refer to is cited when people try to argue that gaming is mindless. Well a lot of things are mindless. There's trash gaming just like there's trash television, trash literature and trash movies.

Your rant is confused and disorganized. Your first paragraph has nothing at all to do with the rest of the post. MLG is just a competition, I don't see what's so sad about it.

poker, bowling, spelling bees, nascar, hockey.....espn should start another channel for that crap.

and last but not least......womens basketball

But I guess they need that stuff for "filler" when the real sports arent in season.

Feel better about yourself now?

Professional athletes get paid millions and contribute little directly to society, all because they're really good at playing a game. Why should talented video gamers be treated any differently?

Bowling is a sport. Poker is not even close to a sport. Gaming is slightly closer than Poker, but definitely NOT a sport. And as I said in the Console Gaming thread on taht video - those clips were not very entertaining at all. They required a great deal of skill, and I respect that. But they were not very enjoyable to watch.

Major League Gaming? It will be interesting to see what the future holds for competitive gaming.
