While the choice BB made prevents them from losing money in the short-term, it destroys their goodwill with customers, which will cost them money in the future by directing people elsewhere. If Fry's should ever open up here on the East Coast, BB is finished.
>>

Goodwill with customers? About 1,400 people got in on the price screwup. About a quarter of them are moronic bastards who are actually expecting them to uphold their price. Yes, that includes you. Give it a rest. Best Buy doesnt need business from assholes like you and nitemare anyway, they'll be fine.

Why are the Best Buys around here doing just fine when there are also Fry's open?

I'm sure they have enough of them with you and all your friends.

BB is too diversified for Fry's to kill them..but they will do some hurting in the computer business as will all the mom and pop pc stores.

I'm hope you're not saying that Best Buy's computer salesn are going to be hurt by mom and pop PC stores. Fry's maybe, but not mom and pop stores. When the average Joe wants to buy a computer, they want a name brand with a warranty.

Sorry was unclear there..mean't if Fry's were to open on the east coast ...Mom and Pops stores would be hurting not so much, Best Buy..

Mom and Pop's couldn't compete computer component wise in price with Fry's..

BB would always have major appliances to fall back on.

I'm getting tired of these silly rants about how best buy won't give in and let you have a geforce4 card for 1/4 of the price. I got in on the the deal, if it goes through...good for me, if it doesn't, life goes on.

For everybody that's concerned over this $200.00 savings line (which I don't even think existed), it makes no legal difference whether it existed or not. I work for a major online retailer, and we also have this line coded to appear depending upon percentage off of retail price. If it appears, it does NOT mean that somebody approved any HTML changes whatsoever, it is the price that determines whether the line appears. This can still be attributed to a pricing mistake and carries no weight. However, this is all a moot point because I don't believe the line existed but was "created" by these putzes that think they know more about the legal system than the Best Buy law department.

I think you idiots forgot to read this part of their Terms of Service Agreement that YOU agreed to when you purchased the card.

Prices and availability are subject to change without notice. Errors will be corrected where discovered, and Best Buy reserves the right to revoke any stated offer and to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions (including after an order has been submitted). Best Buy may, at its own discretion, limit or cancel quantities purchased per person, per household or per order. These restrictions may include orders placed by the same BestBuy.com account, credit card, and also orders which use the same billing and/or shipping address. Notification will be sent to the e-mail and/or billing address provided should such change occur.

Since you agreed on it, you don't have any legal argument.

man enough. sheesh i got in on the deal knowing it was wrong. i was hopeing that they would do it anyway. BUT THEY ARE NOT!
Nobody has shown a screenshot showing the $200 savings. nobody not one person.

Go ahead and sue. how long do you think it will take to get done? IF it is done that they have to honor the price then it will be in there favor because the GF6 (yeah i know they said they wont make a GF5) or so will be out. Either way im amazed at how some people are acting over this.

actually im suprised the mod hasent locked this yet.

And for you IDIOTS who think that they violated Texas Law, you need to read this part of their Terms of Service Agreement:

The BestBuy.com? site is created, operated and controlled by BestBuy.com, Inc. in the State of Minnesota, United States of America. As such, the laws of the State of Minnesota will govern these Terms of Service without giving effect to any principles or conflicts of laws. We reserve the right to make changes to the BestBuy.com? site and these Terms of Service at any time by updating this posting. By using the BestBuy.com? site, you agree to be bound by any such revisions and should therefore periodically visit this page to determine the then current Terms of Service to which you are bound.

Since the website originates in Minnesota, it isn't bound by Texas law.

My order status just switched to cancelled on the web page, & I just got a cancellation notice.

I guess mine just took a little longer.

End game.

Now I just hope they release the CC funds as quickly as they took them.

My, my. Testy, aren't we? Considering this is supposed to be a "dead issue", it's interesting to see how sharp some tempers still are. And I'm not talking about those peeps who want Best Buy to settle up either.

Ever hear of interstate commerce? Minnesota law governs only to a point.

Again, I think you forgot to read this part of their Terms of Service Agreement that everyone who bought the card agreed to when they purchased the card.

Isn't it amazing how the ones supporting Best buy are those slinging names and insults?

Quite frankly with as many flames that have been thrown in the thread I'm surprised it hasn't been locked up yet either. Hats off to the mods. Stop with the flaming and $hit..this is fact finding and so far I am the only one that has posted any links.

And to those calling me a troll and accusing me of trying to rape best buy, I didn't order the friggin card..Read before you post and you'd be surprised by how little crow you end up eating.

I tried doing the google cache to pull up old instances of BB, but had no luck. Does anyone know where this 200 savings was supposed to be..front page, front page of computers, front page of ghaphics adapters, or what? Also, did anyone take any screen prints of your orders or archive the web page that had your order on it?

I'm not taking sides on this, but IIRC you cannot sign away your rights. If Texas laws govern their citizens in typical cases, I do not believe you can sign those rights away.

Hey! Where's all the WMC? Aren't they going to come and pat these guys on the back and encourage them? WTF? Or are they going to say their situation was different? They were on the high ground whereas these guys are just lowly whiners?

You guys are all birds of a feather. Take a good look WMC, cause this is an image of YOU! Aren't ya proud?

Would you believe that if you leave your coat at a coat check with a sign that says, "Not responsible for lost or stolen articles" you have the right to full restitution if your coat is stolen. Signs and agreements cannot take away rights guaranteed to you by the law.

And to you jealous/hypocritical nay sayers, really, why do you even bother? This has nothing to do with you.

My 2 cents.

Do you even know what those words mean? didnt think so... you heard them on TV and decided you'd try to use them to sound intelligent.
