OEM or retail box....I heard retail box ones are not avaialable...

When I ordered from tankguys it was a retail box...Not that I wouldn't have taken an OEM especially if it was 20-30 bucks cheaper...

It wasn't Intel failing to deliver. On 7/27 Club IT clearly stated that Retail E6600's were "in stock and in their warehouses" and all of them would ship 8/7.

They lied. No-one has any tracking number on a retail E6600 from Club IT.

I'll give them a day or two of grace period before going here:

www.resellerratings.com

Then just watch their near perfect rating plummet.

If they told everyone it was based on expected shipments that would be one thing but they specifically state "in stock/in their warehosues".

What happened to Intel's "strategy"? Switched to plan B?

Edit: Oh wait, I think it should be plan C or more likely plan D. :D

Don't forget Intel has to supply the entire planet, not just the US. Other boards have lists of where chips are available.

And that so do other big names.

And please people, just because someone criticizes Intel don't assume s/he is whining. I already have Conroes.

The sequel to the story is that Club IT seems to have screwed up their inventory and assumed OEM E6600 CPU's were actually Retail E6600's and sold them as Retail. Later they open the box from Intel and discover they are OEM. (say what you want!!)

Well they contacted all the purchasers and offered a $10 price reduction, expited shipping, and free T-shirt for the OEM version. (ie that makes it $329 for an E6600). I accepted their offer in a heartbeat.

If you think about it Club IT could have told the buyers they wouldn't have Retail E6600's for several more weeks while they sold the precious OEM stash in the $400 range. (like Screwegg and XPCGEAR). Instead they made the OEM CPUs available to the Retail buyers.

In my estimation they did a pretty good job of damage control. I've never heard of a E6600 for $329 from another supplier yet mine is on the truck.

I know it doesn't answer your question directly, but for those who would like to know.

My buddy just received his X6800 from Clubit today (he got next day shipping)

OEM of coarse. :)

They are real time inventory..

I call CS check out in stock products, it has no problem to ship 2 the same day if you see in stock.

You're ~3 months late, dude. Every retailer and e-tailer on the planet has C2D's now. They're even in stock @ Starbucks, from what I hear. But, every store on the planet that says they have them in stock now actually has them.
