Everyone probably knows by now all the differnt and confusing amounts of ram types there are out there.

High Density, Low Density, DDR ect..

I am considering upgrading to DDR ram when I upgrade CPU/Motherboard for my system but until then I need more ram to run some Virtual PCs on my machine.

Does anyone have the Gigabyte GA71X AMD motherboard? This was one of their orginal first AMD athlon boards and I think only support up to 768MB or total system ram. Some places say their high density ram support the 751 Irongate chipset and some say that only the systems that support more than 1.5GB of ram and up will work with the newer higher density ram.

Can anyone point me in the right direction in what type or ram to get? I was probably going to get anywhere from 128-256MB or ram probably PC100 since the board can't do anymore. I figure ill need to get differnt ram anyways when upgrading the motherboard and ram why get PC133 or PC150 or PC166...

Any comments would be appreciated..

Well the real reason I am trying to figure out this information is that I notice PC100 is cheaper and if I were to want to upgrade in the future I will be wanting to move to DDR anyways so anything I get won't be usful to me besides in this machine (non overclockable) but I want to make sure I get the most bang for the buck that can be used in the GA71X.
