Ugh... Just noticed that my sig links might be important. How come no one notified me that my orangekid link had an extra http in it? ;) Fixed now.

Indeed, there's so many projects to choose from so it's all your decision which one you go to!

Some have more short term solutions, other long term (such as SETI) - all of them are fun and especially the TeAm atmosphere here you can't miss! ;)

pah... OGR has been probably completed 10 times already, but those dnet guys simply can't find the bugs in their code which renders the work useless and it seems to me that they don't really care (trying to get RC5-72 running).

Anyway, our Folding@Home team needs help. We are on #17 only! I think one of the worst TA results... we need your help!

DF's currently in 18th. We've been as high as 6th in production, though we're currently in 21st :(

We need all the help we can get. Old computers do quite well at DF.

And if you've got 256M+ of RAM you can double your production.

Now now... No disparaging of other projects... ;)

OGR, as a project, is fine. I really liked it when it came out and crunched quite a bit for them. However, kadajawi is right. DNet has all but abandoned OGR, and until they decide to fix the client so that we get useful work out of it, I'm not gonna run anymore OGR on my fleet.

Poof: Didn't wanted to do that

Anyway, the dnet guys claim that OGR work is still useful, but how long were OGR-24 and OGR-25 supposed to take? And how long are they running already? I'd say better stop the clients, let them work on OGR after RC5-72 has been started and when the OGR code is finally working well, announce it. Not a small tiny update no one will notice anyway. And then people can work on OGR. Oh... and fix the stats :D

Sadly (although maybe not for them... ;)) I think the "problem" is that they are paid employees of UD now and that means that their focus will obviously be on the United Devices clients (commercial or otherwise), with their Dnet stuff taking a backseat... :(

yep, since they were employed by UD they seem to be only working on UD (of course. Its their job, they have to. And then it might be that they are fed up with DC... I mean all day coding on a DC project, would you continue with that in your free time or rather do something different?). Anyway I wonder why they don't merge UD with dnet, make a BIG client. And make it easier for users to switch.

As a former RC5-64 participant, I was wondeirng if there are any out there that are similar to it and not OGR.

Basically, I want one that does the following:
1. Small client that always runs, eating up all the spare CPU cycles.
2. Does not require a screensaver to be run.
3. Hopefully advances science or does something good for mankind.
4. Cash reward is always nice, but I know my chances of getting it are so small it doesn't really matter.

I looked at folding@home, but does it always run or just when the screensaver kicks in?

Thanks.

runs always, at least with the graphic version (not the screensaver one) and the no-nonsense. I like the graphic one most, because it sets up easily and I can watch its progress easily, hides nicely etc. And if I want I can watch all those cute nice proteins. But for EMIII's sake I'm using the console one, which works pretty well too.

Poof: Heh, didn't knew that. Sounds good... senior... ah... :D

The D2OL team has a goal set to reach the #5 spot by the end of the year. It is a practicle goal bu we are going to need some more help to reach it.

D2OL is a hefty download of 10MB but then the work units are very very small. Also you can close the display window and the only thing showing when it is running will be the icon in the system tray.

I'm just going back to Folding@Home right now. Remember, if you run Folding@Home, be sure to check first to make sure that your desired username isn't in use already, and then be sure that you enter 198 for your team number. :)
