This may have been asked before, but I went back a few pages and did a search, but really didn't come up with anything.
My question is simple...
My system consists of a Athlon64 3500+, DFI nForce4 SLi-D, and 1GB of G.Skill LE. I just sold my 6800GT AGP, so I am looking at purchasing a new PCI-e graphics card. My LCD is limited to 1280x1024 (Dell 1905). I am not upgrading my LCD anytime soon as its a sweet one! Looking at all the graphs on SLi comparisons, it looks like SLi really doesn't start to show off until you get into the 1600+ range of resolutions. At the lower resolutions like 1280x1024, there doesn't seem to be a noticeable difference in frame rates compared to a single card solution. So my question is, should I go back with a PCI-e 6800GT, with the future in mind where I could possibly throw in a 2nd card, or should I just go with a X850XT PE which seems to outdo the 6800's for the most part? I know ATI still doesn't offer Shader 3.0 support, but what type of impact does this really have with the current crop of games?
My motherboard is already set in stone and is on its way to me as I type (friend coming back from overseas picked it up for me).
Opinions, suggestions?
