Struggling TNN -- which just two years ago changed from The Nashville Network to The National Network -- announced Tuesday that, effective June 16, it will call itself Spike TV and become the first network aimed specifically at men.

Despite the name, Hecht promises the network will be no He-Man Woman Hater's Club.

No Ma'am would be awesome. I could Al Bundy's pic being in the little icon that's in the bottom corner of the screen.

As long as they continue to run the James Bond marathons periodically I'll occasionally watch it.

It's actually not a bad idea. Yeah, there's a lot more men-oriented channels out there, but that's because men simply watch WAY more TV than women - just like women generally do WAY more shopping than men and thus have a much larger percentage of woman-oriented stores to choose from.

I never understood why they tried to keep the TNN initials when they switched either. The 'National Network' just sounded like a lame attempt to come up with something to fit the intials of a now deceased acronym. Since they're trying to beat Maxim to the punch, it's too bad they couldn't partner with Stuff magazine. 'Stuff' would make a pretty cool brand name for a cable channel IMO.
 
How about Dorks or Dorx or something like that? Everytime I run by that channel its a ST:TNG rerun fest...what ELSE have they got???

1) A-Team reruns TWICE a day!
2) Star Trek TNG reruns daily with frequent marathons!
3) That's enough!

Change the name, but don't mess with the programming.

The only station that does need to change its name now is MTV. It needs to call itself "Road Rules TV" now.
