I got some questions:

1. Is there a big difference between a the 22" TN panel of mine http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...96&cm_re=samsung_226bw-_-24-001-096-_-Product versus a cheap H-IPS LCD that warrant's the steep cost? Here's what I've been lookin at.

2. Would it be better to get the IPS panel above or a cheap 1080p 32-40 inch HDTV to use as a monitor?

I can't decide between the so-called quality of an IPS panel or the huge viewing area of a TV.

I don't do any artwork or graphics, just gaming, and surfing a little.

The thing that's really important to me is sharp text that doesn't hurt the eyes. I ended up sending my last LCDs back because the text was too damn blurry (22" acer, 28" Hanns G).

Would a 40 inch TV be really bad on the eyes to use on my desk?

1) That really depends on your personal preference. After having used a 2005fpw and a 2209wa, both IPS, I personally would never switch back to a TN panel.

2) Typically HDTVs have IPS panels in them, IIRC. The viewing angles and color reproduction on a TN panel would be terrible. You probably have a significant difference between the colors on the top and bottom of the TV.

So with that out of the way, your biggest decisions now is pixel density and features.

Most HDTVs were not meant for viewing small text, so if you decide to go that route, make sure to read reviews on sites like avsfourm.com for text reproduction.

Lastly, I cannot imagine having my 40" HDTV on my desk. I would be forced to turn my head to read a page of text. No thank you. Maybe you have a frickin huge desk though...

thankya.

i guess a TV is no good for me. Not as good sharpness as a monitor, too much space, too power hungry.

Then, is the IPS worth the price for what I do? I mean, things like viewing angles, and color reproduction doesnt bother me much.

It's just that I can't stand fuzzyness, especially for text.

I guess it boils down to: Should I stick with a TN monitor and save bucks, or, is that IPS monitor I linked really superior to TN's when it comes to sharpness?
