Yep. That's why I don't have a problem with T-Mobile advertising this as "4G speeds". They are beating Sprint's WiMax service, and its compatible with all their 3G phones.

I'm sure when LTE comes along it will crush this...but hey, 7.2 HSPDA crushes EV-DO Rev.0 by almost a factor of 10, and they were both 3G so....lets see some real-world 50Mbit, eh LTE carriers?

And why are you mentioning EV-DO Rev.0 ??
Sprint is 100% EV-DO Rev.A now.
I was a Sprint customer for 6+ yrs and zero complaint from me except for the shitty phones.
I jumped to T-Mobile solely because of the HD2.
I can honestly say the speed of EV-DO Rev.A is much more consistant than what I got from T-mobile HSPA before they upgraded to HSPA+ here in Orlando.
One word to describe T-Mobile 3G network. SPOTTY.
Yes it may be fast but its freakin spotty.

HSPA is the same as EV-DO Rev.A

•EVDO Rev A: 600Kbps - 1,400Kbps Down (with bursts to 3.1Mbps); 500Kbps-800Kbps Up (with bursts to 1.8Mbps)
•EVDO Rev 0: 400 - 1000Kbps Down (with bursts to 2.0 Mbps); 50 - 100Kbps Up (with bursts to 144Kbps)
•1xRTT (Sprint & Verizon 2G, AKA "NationalAccess"): 50Kbps - 100Kbps with bursts up to 144kbps Down/Up
•EDGE (AT&T 2G): 50Kbps - 100Kbps Down/Up
•HSPA (AT&T 3G): 700-1700kbps Down; 500-1200kbps upload
•DSL: Varies based on provider. Average appoximately 1500Kbps Down; 128Kbps Up
•Cable: Varies based on provider. Average appoximately 1000-5000Kbps Down; 200-800Kbps Up
•Satellite: 512Kbps - 1500Kbps Down; 128 - 256Kbps Up
•Dial-Up: 56Kbps Down/Up

Hmm? Not everything has to be a pissing match, you know. I'm not talking about the difference between carriers, so relax. I'm talking about the difference between early 3G and late 3G, which is why its ok to call these things "4g speeds" when LTE is "true" 4G and will be considerably faster than HSPA+ or WiMax.

Didn't mean to be but I found it odd when you make a statement of "7.2 HSPDA crushes EV-DO Rev.0 by almost a factor of 10, and they were both 3G so" when you're not comparing apple to apple. The current 3G between HSPA and EV-DO Rev.A is equivalent.

The point was that they're not apples to apples but they still fall under the 3G umbrella. There are people out there that get very whiny about T-Mobile using the term "4G speeds" or Sprint calling WiMax 4G. My post was in regards to that attitude - later 4G will be better than these speeds, just like AT&T (or, if it pleases you) Sprint's 3G network is better now than when it started.

WFT, no San Francisco or Silicon Valley? You would think they'd want to deploy all the goodies to the techies first, but we always have to wait for it.
san francisco is always the last to get upgrades. sprint wont have wimax here for another 6 months either
