Tjucntion Temps??

I am doing a little bit of OCing on my E6600 and I have a question. First of all, as of now my OC is @ 2.7. I am using Core temp to monitor the temps and was wondering about the Tjunction temp. During Idle core 0 and 1 are at 36C, and Tjunction is at 85C. During load (ran two instances of prime95) core 0 and 1 range from 55c to 52C, but the Tjunction does not change it stays at 85C. Is coretemp misreading that? i would think that the idle Tjunction temp should be lower then the load, not the same.

Tjunction on CoreTemp is a fixed number at 85C and that's 20C too high anyways. Never let your cores above 65C. Those load temps look within range so you should be fine.

Also forgot to mention, 85C is when the chip is suppose to shutdown or else it will melt like a nuclear reactor (OK maybe not exactly like it )

it does not shut down though. I ran orthos for 2 hours and 2 instances of prime95 for 1 hour and the Tjunction temp never moved, 85C the entire time. That is why I believe that CoreTemp is not reporting in correctly.


How could i go about lowering that temp? I have a zalman 9700

Actualy the Tjunction temp is where it will start to throttle. My roomate actualy managed to get his C2D to 85c, and it started to throttle like mad. You can't lower the Tjunction temp..that is the fixed point at what temp the CPU will throttle, it's not a temp thats actualy being measured..

That TJunction reading in CoreTemp of 85C is just telling you what the limit is supposed to be b4 the cpu shuts down due to overheating. It is the same on everyone's computer that has a Conroe chip. It is not your actual temperature so rest assured you are fine.
