Ok, my rma board came today, so back to building my new box. I have a question though with the Zalman. Everything I read says point it to vent out the back of the computer, but I read in a couple of places about people that point it up to vent out the top vents. Any thoughts on which is better?

Most people don't have a top exhaust which is why they always talk about pointing it out the back. I'm guessing it doesn't matter where it is pointed as long as it towards an exhaust. Do it whichever way you like.

(Obligatory note: This is just what my logic tells me, can't back it up with facts and figures)

I'm NOT being a wise guy here... ;)

Opinions are like bungholes -- everyone has one.

Try it both ways, and see which way gives YOU better results!

Heh!

I love TJ09s!!! SilverStone finally got it right...

Anyway, if it was me, I'd install dual 120 exhausts on top, and send it up the smokestack! ;)

I have a 120 blowing out the back and another out the top of my TJ09, so I guess I could have gone either way, but I set up my 9700 in line with the rear exhaust. Works fine.

Not trying to be a wise guy...but...

If you are NOT comfortable removing the heatsink once its on....
Then should you really be building a computer???
Quite a few people have to remove there heatsinks for various reason....

surface not flat....
applied thermal paste...too little or too much....
not getting temps they were expecting and the list goes on and on...

Good Luck!! :D

Heh, last one I built I just used the intel supplied heatsink. It was easy to do. I have the computer assembled and it loads up. Now I just need to install Windows and I'm off and running.
