TIVO - Where can I get the cheapest stuff?

I have a satellite at home, but I only use it when I go down there, would be great to be able to record stuff during the week remotely, and bring it back to the residence during the week...

Is this possible? And how much would it cost??

Most any TV tuner card comes with software to record shows just like a VCR. Problem is changing channels on the Satellite. Not sure of any solution for that.

My solution: make an Ir repeater, and connect remotely to the comp... but I wanna know, what about surround sound? Is there a way to record it in dolby D? (I have a surround sound receiver)

PCAlchemy.com is a great source for PVR/TV Tuner hardware.

With the right hardware and software, you can have TIVO-like funcionality with no monthly fees 🙂
