We all know the differences between Tivo, and an HTPC, but my question is.... What do the people who have an HTPC call it when they record something???
I was just making a post about Battlestar, and was saying about how I had "Tivoed" it and was watching it again, then I realized that I actually did not Tivo anything. I had my computer record it, and I am currently streaming it over my home network through my XBOX 360 onto my TV..... Surely I am not the only member here that has done this... So the question I pose to those people who have done this, is this....... What do you tell people who might not be as computer savy as you when you talk about recording a tv show??? Do you also say that you Tivoed it? I mean it is easier than having to explain the whole process to them....Then when you finish they have this look of confusion....Like you just tried to explain the evolution of man to them...
But when you think about it, its the same idea as saying give me a band-aid....That is a brand, not an actual product.... A band-aid is simply an adhesive strip with a piece of gauze....But who wants to say that every time they cut themselves?? "Pass the adhesive strip with a piece of gauze in the middle of it, I seem to have cut myself on the side of my HTPC case as I was trying to re-seat my tv-tuner card so that I can "Tivo" Battlestar....... Umm, not me......
So fellow forum members here is what we should do, lets come up with a term that we can use when talking about "tivoing" tv.....Then we can adopt it, and spread it to everyone to let them know that we do Tivo.....Just not really....
Any takers for a term??? I am sure that we can come up with something interesting....
