Tivo software question.

I just got a new tivo and it has software version 5.4.
Am I missing anything not having 7.x software? (other than better wireless support)

7.2 is what you'll get...

And it has TiVoToGo, where you can take stuff you've recorded on your tivo onto your computer and take it with you (or burn it onto a dvd)

Also, there is GoBack, a feature that allows you to put mpg (mpeg2) streams that you may have on your computer and put them onto the tivo!

I can listen to MP3s from my Tivo with 7.x. In the earlier version (forgot what it was) it would crash whenever it got to the mp3 directory. I think because it had so many folders in it.

I dunno, but if you let it call in for an update, you'll get the latest version of the software.

I just activated a replacement TiVo and it came with software version 4.x. Sure enough, first time it networked in after the initial setup, the software updated to 7.2.

If it's a 540 series tivo they kind of suck (I've got one)

It's got less power when taking stuff off of it as well as putting things back on it...
