TiVo setup help needed... PLZ help if you are Tivo or A/V master!

I got my Tivo today and have it setup as per the instructions. I have the channel changer setup correctly, but the problem is that I cannot view another channel while recording one. I have Time Warner Cable Digital Extended (HBO, CineMax, etc.). Here is my setup. Please tell me how I can get it so I can watch a channel and record a different one. I know I can do it with a splitter off of the main cable line, but since I do not have a second cable box, it would limit me to the first 60 or so channels instead of all 900 of them.

The setup right now is:

Main cable line into Digital Cable box input
Digital cable box (output) into Tivo (input) with composite A/V cables (Red, White, Yellow)
Tivo (output) into Television (Panasonic Tau 27") with S-Video Cables (Red, White, S-video)

also, I have my dvd player (output) going into an RF modulator (input) via composite A/V cables (R,W, Y)
and VCR (output) using RF cable into RF modulator (input)
RF modulator (output) using RF cable into Television (Panasonic 27") RF input

any help or bumps would be appreciated

HERE IS A PICTURE TO SHOW YOU MY SETUP

msi,

With your current setup you won't be able to record a show while watching a different one. You would need a second digital cable tuner to be able to do what you want.

With the tivo you can watch a previously recorded show while recording a new one. If you use a splitter and feed the output to your rf-modulator (or straight to the tv) you can watch the non-digital channels on tv, while tivo recorded the output of the digital cable box.

One suggestion I would make is to get rid of the rf-modulator if at all possible. It is by far the worst way to connect a dvd player to the tv, even moving up to composit cable will give a much improved picture quality. I believe the Tau tv has component input (we have a 27" tau from 4 years ago and it does), and I would suggest connecting the dvd player through these cables.
