To my amazement, I could not find this at Frys!! Anyone know where I can pick one up, haven't seen many deals on the wireless adapaters so I figure just go the wired route.

TIA!

You can't just convert the cable. Do you think you could plug your monitor into your sound card an it'll work?

You can, however, get a USB NIC just about anywhere.

I have one that came with my UPS that I never used.. but since I just moved it's gonna take a whole lot of digging to find out which box I put it into :frown:

ah! That's another option, but I since the manual mentioned something about a usb -> ethernet cable I assume there was one and it would be cheaper than the wireless route.

Thanks, I'll look into it, hopefully it'll be a lot cheaper.

That's not going to work. Those are just serial cables.
You need a usb nic. They cost less than $20, I think I got mine on half.com for $5 + shipping, it's a 3com.

I have one that I'm not using anymore, its a Belkin and I got it from Officemax for about $40 and would be willing to sell if you're interested just PM me.

And to the others, its not a direct USB to Ethernet, its basically and external NIC that connect to a PC (or in this case to a Tivo) via USB instead of being internal.

That won't work, that is just to send a signal to your PC when your UPS is running on battery so it can shut down the PC properly without it just shutting off.
