Tivo or Cox Cable DVR Box?

I've got the credit card out and I'm about to buy a Tivo/DVD combo unit from the HD forums, however, I'm also set to get the DVR cable box from Cox Cable in my area too. Looks like it's $9.95/mo for equipment rental (about $5.00 more than renting my current cable box) plus $4.95/mo for the DVR service.

Or, I can purchase a Tivo which is gonna cost me about $550.00 up front.

Does anyone here have Cox Cable DVR service already and how does it compare to Tivo? I've heard you can record two streams at the same time and watch another show on the Cox DVR, but can't on Tivo. Anyone have first hand knowledge of this before I order my Tivo unit tonight?

not usre if cox and comcast use the same box or not. But we've got a DVR through comcast and it sucks. You can record two streams- but you have to be watching one of them (no watching a third show while recording two others).... and the overall ease of use and quality is much lower than the tivo's i've seen. Plus the tivo seems to have more features than the comcast box...

The comcast box just seems to be a cheap rippoff of tivo. We'll probably be upgrading to a real tivo one day.

The Tivo I'm ordering is an 80 hour and has built-in progressive scan DVD. I could use another DVD player for the bedroom as the one in there is about 6 years old now. I think I'll just jump on the Tivo.
