Tivo HD, cable box, cable card question

I am getting a Sharp LCD and Tivo HD with Comcast. I know the Tivo takes cable cards, but does that mean that I don't need the cable box or do I need both?
 
If you want access to PPV or OnDemand, you'll need a cable box. Otherwise, your cable cards should give you access to the same channels you would otherwise get with Comcast's box.
