TIVO boxes (DVRs)

Whic box is best to get? I'm sure I can hack the cheap 40 hour box and install a giant hard drive, but which box is best and where's a good place to learn about it?

I haven't checked in a while, but last time I did, you could hack the Series 1 boxes, but not the Series 2. But I've heard rumors of mod services for Series 2.

I feel that for the most part, the boxes are commodity items, the value is in the software, which is mostly the same. The Tivo branded boxes come with the real Tivo remote, which is the most ergonomic remote ever, to many.

Went with a Replay unit. You can still find some units with commercial skipping and there's pretty good internet support out there for hacking them.

Check that out for the hard drive upgrade. I used it to upgrade my hard drive.
