I dunno exactly what the recent deals on tivo is, but i do know that tivo used to be $100 or free if you sign up for 10 months service (which is $10 * 10 months = $100). It seems like a pretty nice deal considering that all the other tivo deals seem deal, but I'm not sure. Hopefully somebody else can reply with a better deal.

I won a 30 hour unit in the contest (and I actually had to write a decent essay as I missed the period where everyone won). It broke in about a week (the tuner went ka-put) and they cross-shipped a new unit (plus sent me $20 for the shipping). Now though, I have $20 in charges for two months service in which my TiVo was inoperable AND my new TiVo wasn't set up to recieve my old account info.

I was planning on just getting my $20 investment refunded (shouldn't be too hard) and parting it to use in my new computer (hdd's, IR Receiver, fans, etc). If someone gives a decent offer though (over $200), I'd be willing to sell. It is a pretty cool thing, but pretty worthless without the service (basically just like a regular VCR with finite space). I can't justify paying $10 a month for the service...
