Do I need the title to a vehicle to get insurance on the vehicle?

Yes. And to get the plate, you need insurance.

Dangit. I have a question then.

My friend is selling me his motorcycle. The title is under his name, but he lost the hard copy. Does he need to get a brnad new one in order to transfer it to me? Or can we just go into the DMV together?
