Two conflicting arguments. I don't play Titanfall that much, but I do think there is a shallow learning curve.

It's not hard to play the game and I often beat out people that are much more experienced than me.

I got burnt out just playing the beta, and came out not wanting top play any more. Just not my type of FPS I guess.

I purchased it a few weeks back when Origin had it on sale for the same price that you listed. Played it about 3 times and never touch it since. The thing is that I got bored with it fast. AI players are too easy to kill. The game would have been better if there wasn't any AI players and if it was like at least 10v10 or better yet 15v15.

The going in to your Titan and ejecting out, fast pace game seems cool, but man it is not a re-playable game like COD and Battlefield. Some people says that it feels like COD with Titans. This game does not feel like COD, BF etc. It feels more like Killzone with Titans, running on wall , and double jumps. This game can not touch COD, BF, and Crisis.

This game is not worth more than $30 or $40 release.

Given that alot of people are using back doors to find ways to get the game cheap and such. I would expect that when user base is high on next gen consoles in a year or so, don't expect to see the game released on pc again.

IMO, it's the best mp fps available right now. The mechanics and depth is there if you put time into it. It takes away everything annoying out of cod, and adds many new innovations. Obviously, it rings true that gamers really don't want innovation b/c COD/BF appears to be preferred still. I could never get into bf, and it's hard to go back to COD after playing TF.

The weakness of the AI enemies is something I see mentioned a lot. It seems to me that they're supposed to be cannon fodder for the real players to use at will to win games. For instance, you could be in a bad situation waiting for your titan countdown to finish and mow down a few grunts to knock the last few seconds off of your timer and win the game (killing specters and grunts knocks a few seconds each off your titan countdown). In attrition games grunts count for a point each toward winning the game, so hunting them down and killing them becomes very important. I often notice that the players near the top of the standings in attrition matches will be the players who racked up the most minion (grunt/specter/etc) kills. They're essentially made to be abused for whatever goal you happen to have at the moment, not to be any real threat to the players. It's a bit unfair then to judge the game for their weakness. They're made to be cannon fodder that comes with tactical advantages when exploited.

I imagine the designers experimented with stronger AI opponents and found them to be disruptive in some way, which makes a kind of sense when you consider the mad pace of the gameplay.

One of the reasons Titanfall isn't the main game I'm playing right now. Too many people using grunts to get ahead and it's ridiculous.

Titanfall was a great idea that was rushed and dumbed down a lot. The worst thing IMO is the limited modes. Needs some long games with deep development, major objectives (defend/destroy a massive airbase, etc), 10v10+, huge maps, and above all destruction. Being in a massive titan and literally not being able to scratch a building is lame. Buildings made of adamantium confirmed.

It would bug me less if the idea wasn't so promising. So much potential and they blew it. The source engine needs to be taken out back and shot too, it's ugly as hell compared to even bfbc2. Another reason I think it was rushed is the frequently encountered placeholder textures of garbage quality.

6/10 at best. Reviewers were bought off with the 300m marketing push.

IMO not really worth $36, but if you're EVER going to play it, buy it now. By the time it drops to $20 or lower in six months there will be a small, dedicated hardcore group left playing it. And you.

You will not have a good time.

Agreed with a 6/10 or at most 7/10, some cool ideas but the first iteration not as excellent as it could have been.

I got the Russian key for about this much, and played it off and on for a week. I got my $ worth of entertainment out of it, but I doubt I'll ever feel the urge to fire it up instead of all the other games in my backlog, or even TF or LoL.

Getting matches with an organized group of Gen9 player is no fun at all, and it happens regularly, I'll even keep searching for games, but you consistently get matched with a clan of tryhards who will whoop my ass every time.

Usually when I get into a particularly bad string of losses I'll jump to campaign mode to bolster my confidence a bit. I only made gen 2 last night, but that makes me senior to most of the people there. Even there I'll get my ass handed to me sometimes though.

Try doing this in the Battlefield 4 or COD campaigns... #NeverAgain

I'm not 100% sure about "bought off" but a few, usually respectable and trustworthy reviewers published somewhat odd reviews. The inflated scores struck me as favors to friends at Respawn rather than straight up payola.

Especially if you look at reviewers private accounts. I mean, if you give a game a 5/5 or 10/10, shouldn't you be playing it at least once a week? Most haven't touched the game in months but they tend to play games they scored lower a lot more. At least it helped me filter out fakes from genuine reviewers, a list that's unfortunately getting shorter with time.

When TF first came out, I was flamed for saying that Respawn and it's products won't be that much different than Activision. They haven't done much to prove me wrong and Respawn just pulled off another typical Activision move: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/05/20/titanfall-removes-game-modes/

The TF thread here died a while ago and that's the best indication about the game one could need but if one missed the beta and is really itching to try it, $36 is better than wasting $60.

No, Titanfall is fun for like 3 hours then gets incredibly repetitive , that's about it.

The thread dying here means next to nothing. Over at PA, the thread is still going just fine. Granted it will fall off the front page on occasion, but it's consistently a front page thread with a ton of eyes-on.

As I said after I played beta - technically the game has (had) issues and ultimately its fun for a few hours and then you get bored. There just isn't much game there, its not got the breadth and depth of combat that you see in other shooters, its more gimmick and less substance. Since the game is rather rapidly dying in numbers I guess I wasn't wrong.

Hmm I've noticed more and more people saying this. Is there like an official stat thing or graph I can take a look at for how many people have been playing recently?

A buddy of mine was like Titan Fall Titan Fall everyday until its release bragging about how fun it is. He's been rather quiet about it now. Seems like the novelty wears off pretty quick.

It's fun to come back to but yea the hype wore out pretty quickly. Once you get to like 2nd gen you've done everything and played all the maps. The weapons aren't even all that diverse. The whole time I used the lmg and the carbine. Titan weapons need variance too.

Well, I love it. Hell I even bought the $10 map expansion pack that just came out, and all of the complaints I hear either don't apply to me (I never play CTF, I find it dull because you know exactly where everyone's going to be) or haven't experienced.

Sorry I can't join in the pessimism, but nitpicking aside it's a great and fun game IMO. I even enjoy losing more often than not. If you take FPS seriously, yeah you should probably look elsewhere. Titanfall is the Pacific Rim of shooters. Dumb, awesome robot game.

Edit: Origin says I've put in 86 hours to date.

I bought it a while back, played about 5 hrs and gave up. Now Respawn's forum is ablaze with players who feel cheated by the fact that capture the flag and pilot hunter have been taken out of the game but only for the PC version. I uninstalled it because they never fixed the missing mini map and HUD for Nvidia Surround and never provided support for SLI.
