BUMP!!!!
Your favorite builds, and why.
I like my war/defense build alright. Not much ranged power but he can take and deal damage very well. Cant use the special abilties very often, even with lots of mana potions. But the always active and passive abilities are great.
My earth/storm chick is pretty good for dealing ranged and close damage, but she isnt very durable. I am always using pets as defense and constantly have to enable the stone skin for protection and healing. But I love her ability to get ridiculous burn and frost burn damage with her high-end staffs. The passive fire and ice damage boosters are really nice. She can do lots of instant damage along with plenty of burn over time damage. Thats good for bosses when you want to run and avoid their attacks after a hit (especially Typhon).
My hunter/rogue is very sweet. She has several pieces of equipment that add +1 to all hunting or rogue skills, sometimes both. Her passive abilities and boots give her insane run speeds and she also has very respectable attack speeds, which is nice because bows are normally slow. I have some points in spear abilities but rarely use melee. I have found with the right combination in ranged skills she can take out several enemies with one arrow hit. If they dont die instantly from high piercing damage then the massive poison & bleeding will finish them off in a second or two. I have plenty of charms that boost piercing, bleeding and poison as well as some boost to attack & run speed. Like the assasin in Diablo 2 she covers ground and wipes out enemies quickly, making her game and level progress a little faster than the other characters. Insane damage capability but she isnt as tough as the warrior/defender.
The spirit/nature mage is a bit more difficult, especially because he is the one I played last and I was used to easy damage from the other three characters. He cant dish out massive damage, especially with groups of enemies. The vitality damage along with weak poison and life leech just isnt good enough, especially against undead. I got him the full Necromancers Set but it only helped a little bit. Looks like I will reassign skill points and instead of trying to do direct damage I will make use of the pets, of which there are plenty.
So far I dont think they intended for us to use similar classes together. Aside from the hunter/rogue all my characters have serious weaknesses which makes them annoying to play. I think the best classes are balanced with raw firepower and magic support. I understand the war/hunting combo is very popular for its ridiculous ranged and melee power. But aside from that they recommend one fighter and one mage.
The Dream class added by the expansion is neat in that its balanced between intelligence and strength. I was thinking it would go nicely with most classes, especially Spirit. I am running him solo right now and he's at level 10. Still dont know who I want him to combine with.
