I was bored and simultaneously poor, so I figured I purchase Titan Quest Gold on steam for 20 bucks. Its a nice Diablo clown, but I realized how much I miss randomized levels. That and travel between towns (or even midway through towns) is kind of a hassle, no town portal scroll. Just wanted let you know if you were interested. Other than that it is a half decent game.

Other than that, it was my first Steam purchase which I found was surprisingly easy, perhaps with all this DRM talk, a simple solution would be a standardized Steam model. Of course there are some drawbacks, such as the portability of your game at times, but it's better than rookits.

there is a 'town portal' scroll ... i'd tell you how to use it, but i haven't played the game in months... i think the button you press is 'L' or maybe 'K'

Once you discover a portal (such as those located in nearly every town), you can travel back to it at will, IIRC. It's effectively a town portal scroll, although it doesn't have a limited number of uses.

Press L for unlimited town portals.

Also, I think Titan Quest did a fine job of no randomized levels. Everything felt placed for a reason...

Busy playing through it now myself. About 40 hours in - longer than I usually play any game.

Just don't make the mistake I made thinking that Immortal Throne is a continuation to be played after Original.

From some stuff I read, it actually updates the main game to include new stuff... a bit miffed as I don't normally replay a game, and now may never see what additions Immortal Throne added.

I STRONGLY recommend you download and apply the community fix patch. Ironlore went out of business, so it was left to the community to fix things. A whole bunch of minor database errors were fixed (mispellings on loot tables, quests not giving proper rewards due to typos, etc etc)

http://www.titanquest.net/foru...-unofficial-patch.html

Also, http://www.titanquest.net/forums/ has a ton of really useful information for newbies. I played TQ for a month or two and the info there really helped me understand what each skill actually does, how damage is calculated, whether to dump points in favor of something else, etc etc.

Don't portal around too much, they thought it'd be a good idea to pre-cache all kinds of textures which can bring the game to a crawl and cause serious memory leaks. Such a horribly coded game, thank god D3 is coming, only Blizzard can do hack n slash right.

For those who play Titan Quest and want multilayer, there's Hamachi client. It creates a virtual network so you can play with random people. More info on TQ forums.

Also don't forget to download and install the Titan Quest Vault. Makes playing much more fun with all the extra storage.

Absolutely brilliant sir, I can't read the manual in my "library" as I got the game on steam. And too think all of that loot that I could have sold.
