I was in Walmart yesterday, and saw TQ Gold on the shelf for the low price of $19.92... I figured sure why not after all of your good words for it. I've got a few questions:

1) I have to install both TQ and Immortal Throne separately and get two different executables, does it matter which I run or play on? Are they two seperate adventures or just additional material with IT?

2) Does my single player character transfer online? If not, is there any real reason to play offline?

Those questions aside, as of right now I *really* enjoy it. I had no idea it was based on greek mythos, which makes me happy... and I love that all of the dialog is actually spoken (so far). It was a really good $20 purchase.

Run the TQ:IT executable. If you ran the original TQ executable, you'd be missing out on everything the expansion has to offer. Running TQ:IT will give you both games, seamlessly.

There's no difference between SP and MP characters. You'll typically gain more experience playing online because the difficulty is set based on how many players there are. If you're going to play online, a few suggestions:

1) Stick with people you know, and try to always advance together. Some quests can become bugged if one player completes them (offline or online) and another hasn't. Worst case scenario is you won't be able to progress past that quest, but usually you just lose the reward and XP.

2) Loot isn't localized, meaning everyone sees the same drops online. Running different classes will help in distributing the drops fairly.

TitanQuest.net is your best resource for the game. While you're there, check out the X3 mod if things get too easy or boring.

Dont forget to take advantage of the Vault. It makes life easier.

Theres about a hundred other little tips, but finding out the interesting stuff is part of the fun.

I will say this:
Read the manual.

If you are too lazy to read the manual, read the in-game tips.
If you are too lazy to read those, be prepared for merciless beatings here on Anandtech. Most of the stuff people ask questions about are in the tips.

Launch the TQ:IT exe... it gives you a nice, large vault and also access to Dream Mastery should you want to play a Dreamy type.

In the TQ:IT exe, you get the benefits of the original TQ + the extras that IT added, its all good. Sort of like Diablo 2 and LoD, launch the LoD exe to get all of the benefits of D2 and LoD all rolled into one.

Haha, I picked up the manual and was surprised at its thickness... so I tossed it aside and have been going by the in-game tips. Thats typical for me, and I usually thumb through the manual after I've played a bit first.

Of course, certain tips dont come up till you try to do something (like hitting L, which I did by accident). So, I haven't read the book yet... but what's this Vault do?

I wouldn't mess around too much with the manual, if you know your way around Diablo 2 and more traditional RPGs, you're fine just glancing over tool tips. Just pay a bit more attention to the skill trees (I love how you only have to commit 1 pt in a skill to advance in the tree) and later, where you picked up charms/relics so you can go back and farm them later. Definitely make use of storage caravans as others said and talk to all the NPCs you can. But ya, great game especially at the price.

The in-game tips are fine. I usually start a game and play a bit before going to the manual, but the tips were good enough that I never felt the need to go back and read. You'll learn everything you need just by doing it.

TQ is a really easy game. It's so linear that you can't get lost or miss many quests and just about any character build can be successful in the long run. Dive in and play.

Sometimes you discover the end result of a quest without actually being on the quest (like finding a missing person without knowing he/she was missing).

I decided to screw around with a character once in the original game. I put all the points in the basic ice blast spell thing (forgot the real name). After a few levels I could kill everything very quickly with just one spell. Then I got a mask that increased my cast rate by 33 percent. It was like a machine gun :)

I want to play again..

I'm not super hardcore or anything, so I'm now only just past Medusa in Act 1. I'm really impressed in general about just about every aspect in the game. The unlimited "town portals", the ability to jump between cities and store items in a caravan... Awesome stuff all around. Iron Lore went out of business too, right? That sucks hard.

i got this game through steam.
a couple friends and I game at least once a week, we all got this game. we played for a few weeks and all lost interest. with 3 people, this game (at least on the default level, can't up the diff. until you beat it) was ridiculously easy. It really got repetitive and really took absolutely no skill, whatsoever. Plus the loot system is non-existent (say compared to WoW) and completely sucks balls.
we'd have to sit there and discuss and talk about each piece of gear that dropped.

there were some neat things in the game, the water effects are fantastic, for example. the gameplay was pretty good.

and yes, that is correct, Iron Lore is no more.

The only major problem with TQ:IT is that there isn't enough of it. They needed another expansion.

By the way, the dream class has like 9 awesome builds. So yea.

Bought it off steam a while ago. Love the game. Formatted my PC and forgot to backup the characters I made. So now I have to start over if I want to finish the game >.<

Not likely because they went out of business due to lack of sales.

Yep, i skipped a quest online, and when I finished the Library one, the door wouldn't open for me to reach the next area.

Great game. This forum convinced me to get it; I bought it off steam and have loved it since.
