I'll rejoice when "they" release a non gimped bios and ill pray to the green god when "they" release a bios that unlocks the disabled shaders.

While the Titan cooler looks sexy and they also have a water block version,who is gonna honestly remove such sexy coolers for this mediocre looking $40 heatsink?:|

About as silly as going from water cooling to air cooling for a highly clocked 3960x....also there no cards with this cooler already attached....

The titan cooler sucks because it is loud and not effcient.

Give me some credit towards my point of there being at least one Titan model with this cooler already preinstalled....

Will not say if the stock is loud and inefficient,i don't own a titan but it seems the titan cooler has gotten rave reviews so i won't knock it.

If i bought a Titan tomorrow,i would buy one with this $40 cooler,not the card then the cooler.:|

Well if the stock cooler is as you say then why bother dropping more money for the same outcome imo . EVGA charges a scumbag arm and leg to ship though so that $40 cooler turns into $70 when it's all said and done.

Nvidia gives us a high performance, neutered, overpriced product that is so regulated and locked down it is basically just plug and play without the ability to do anything fun to it.

AMD gives us a "good enough" performance product that operates at its fullest capacity at really good prices.
 
-at $1k titans should come with 3-5 coolers in the box.
-but titans sli not on water seems wrong imo. no need for air coolers.

As much as the fact they won't offer the titan with this cooler already installed bothers me,the $70 on top of the $1,000 titan obviously won't break too many people.

I am sure my tiny little rant will look pathetic later on when Evga comes up with the brilliant idea just to offer a Titan with that cooler already installed at a small premium,i would be crapping myself taking apart a $1,000 card to install any cooler period.:|
 
The stock Titan cooler is about as good as a reference designed blower can be. The card is gorgeous and it works very well. I prefer blower designs over open air coolers like the ACX. Try running your rig with two or more of those type of coolers on highend cards....

I ran a pair of 7970 Lightnings for about a month and damn near crapped my self when I took the side of my 500R off and felt the amount of heat in the case. It was absurd. One card is fine but when pulling near 600 watts with the cards alone and having all of that getting dumped in the case, it is not cool. ;P

I tried to put up a stink about the lack of backplates on the $1000 card and I was booed off the stage. Good luck with your arguement
 
That cooler will lower temps a bit and prevent any throttling, but the real issues are the lack of custom PCB based Titan's and the lack of voltage control. 780s are much more versatile in this respect (two models will have voltage control), and scale much better from the base GTX 780 reference configuration as a result. Also, the 6GB of GDDR5 on the Titan further takes away from the TDP headroom for overclocking.

I think Titan has uses for surround (as it has a ton of VRAM), but for single screen gaming or even triple 1080/1200p.......I think i'd take a custom PCB GTX 780 over the Titan anyday. As I said this cooler solves only half the problem. It doesn't give the Titan voltage adjustment or more available TDP headroom for overclocking.

It makes me wonder why nvidia is allowing AIB partners to go nuts with custom 780s, yet the 1000$ Titan is completely locked down (no custom PCB, no non-reference cooler unless user installed)? Doesn't make sense to me, if anything it seems like the other way around would make more sense. Whatever though!

I remember the gtx280 i bought years ago from Evga simply just coming with one installed,wonder whatever happened to that idea just being standard?

Think the lower end cards like the gtx760,7870 and cards of that area are fine with aftermarket coolers and reference is what i would go with if i wanted a higher end card like a gtx770 or 7950 or higher.

I have a basic boring stock cooled zotac gtx650 currently that dumps heat into the case,fan speed at 45% and personally the card refuses to hit 60 cel,had a msi tf 7850 before this that at the same fanspeed refused to hit 60cel as well.

Are they even allowed to sell a custom Titan? That's the first thing. Second, can they (EVGA) buy a Titan without the reference cooler? The answer to both of those questions is no, as far as I know.
