alright, I finally got everything I need to cool/overclock my t-bird: Arctic Silver _large_ contact area (the retailer sends it to me "to avoid backorder". large vs small, anyone? ), the AMD shim and GlobalWin FOP32-1. I know this is the question being asked/posted many times, but I don't want to mess things up. Would anyone give me the proper procedures to replace my current (damn) HSF with what I got in my hand?

O wait, I've heard two places to put the AS compound: the cpu core and the heat sink. Where should I put it? Oh, two more, do i need to increase the Vcore from 1.75 (default) to 1.85 (max)? how about multiplier? My ideal target is 950-1000 MHz, using my 800 t-bird on A7V. how's 9.5x100, 9.5x10_, 9.0x10_ ? Can I do all these settings via BIOS? Thanks everyone.

Artic silver on the core.. how thick based on how smooth your heatsink/cpu surfaces are.
