How is Jeezus involved? Didn't realize this was related to religion.

"'Tis Better to Give Than Receive"

"The phrase typically attributed to a verse in the Christian New Testament is now proving to be hard-wired into our brains. Brain scanning research is revealing that generosity seems to be a built in human trait. "

Also, from techs' link:
"Jesus Christ is quoted by St Luke in Acts chapter 20 verse 35 as saying "It is more blessed to give than to receive." (NIV). These words of Jesus are not quoted in the gospels. The whole of verse 35 is part of St Paul's sermon in Ephesus "In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'""

Well there you go. I'm not a religious person but I tend to agree with the philosophy. I like giving/helping people. :)

Does it make you feel better about yourself?

Is it because you believe that what comes around goes around?

Or does it suppress a deep seeded guilt you may carry from something evil you may have done in the past?

I believe in helping those I can with the resources I have. :)

If I can help someone without putting myself in jeapordy, I usually will. Neither of the reasons you state are a determining factor. :)
