I wasn't really that impressed with C&C 3. I played through it, but it wasn't as fun as previous versions.

I don't preorder anything these days, but am looking forward to picking it up too. C&C3 was excellent IMO.

I don't really play PC games (or any games, for that matter), but this game I do enjoy playing.

I went off C&C3 quickly. Very poor game.

Maybe Red Alert 2 was just so good and the Dawn of War series has just changed how I like my RTSes to be.

Everything in C&C3 is paper thin, wet rag and dead in 2 seconds flat.

I am going to pick up Kanes Wrath from EA's download store as I feel that the updates via patches may have improved since C&C3's release and the Sub Factions interest me.

They made a big mistake in naming the MARV though (Mammoth Armed Recovery Vehicle). I expected something like Multiple Advanced Railgun Vehicle, due to its rather advanced, triple-barrelled railgun. These units are looking interesting which is something EA never seems to do right, interesting.

On a side note, Im from the UK so I hope EA's store lets me download tomorrow rather than wait until Friday.

It seems CNC3 is either a game you love or hate. I'm assuming the gameplay isn't as popular as it used to be and/or people just hate anything EA makes.

I personally loved it and will be getting the expansion as soon as possible. Looking forward to the subfactions and the World Domination mode.

It also includes a key to the Red Alert 3 beta so that should be interesting when it comes out.

Any theories on what Kane is up to?

C&C 3 certainly was slow going through the EA milking process. It has now been a year since the game was released.

I liked all the C&C series up until C&C Commanders.... but C&C 3 and addons has been a big disappointment

just pure eye candy, nothing new

even the story line sucked in comparison to the previous C&C series

C&C3 was a flawlessly done throwback to the originals. And I loved it for that, played through all 3 campaigns, can't wait for the expansion. A lot of people here have some pretty negative things to say about it, my guess is that they really didn't want a throwback, they wanted something more in line with the new breed of RTS, the company of heroes / dawn of war games. These are the same people that will probably hate SC2 even if it's a flawless recreation of the original.

If you read reviews from C&C3 though, most reviewers considered it an extremely well done throwback to an older time frame. And most of the core C&C gamers loved the fact that they included cut scenes similar to the originals.

Growing up on Dune 2 on the Amiga... i really enjoyed the old style RTS. I disagree totally that C&C3 is anything like the original C&C. EA have done the C&C series some justice by maintaining a good standard through the C&C portfolio... I enjoyed Tib Sun, Renegade, Firestorm and of course Red Alert 2 and Yuris Revenge... but they dropped a clanger for me with C&C3, ruining the feel of both NOD and GDI for me.

I have picked up Kanes Revenge because of my love of the series. They are also implementing some features I think are quite interesting, maybe not cutting edge but they do add a twist to what had become a little stale. Epic Units.... I really hope they are much heavily armoured than even something like a Mammoth tank, which feels a little like paper armour at the moment.

Also... I have been a fan of all C&C RTSes through the times but I never got the feel for SC. SC2 is on my list to look at nearer the time, a sequel or game with a big name in the industry behind it should never be overlooked.

Time to go... Download Complete.

Going to grab the bundled copy with C&C3 and Kanes wrath for 48.00
I played the game in skirmish on a friends pc and it was fun.
I don't do much with campaigns in rts games anymore.
Don't like being told I can't access certain units.

The AI was plenty fun though in skirmish.
And both games for 48.00 is not bad.

There are some pretty hard missions in the campaign, but the new units are pretty cool. Of course, the cutscenes are corny as always. If you didn't mind C&C3 then I'd say go for it

That sounds good. I thought most of the C&C3 campaign missions were quite easy compared to some of the missions in the previous games (stuff like Blindsided in the original C&C or Legacy of Tesla in RA, if anyone remembers those). The only one that I remember being fairly hard was the Scrin one where you only had the mastermind.

Anyone have trouble registering the code for the RA3 beta? I tried it about 10 times and kept getting a "Key Not Successful" error.

Havent tried yet, ill check later.

As for the game, I can honestly say I think the point and click strategy is getting tiresome. I like the units much more in this game but the overall impact on the experience is just not there. It's good to see the wolverene back however for GDI, but it's about a game late! Isn't this yet another money grubbing prequel, yet some how newer units are available? The game just seems like every other c&c game, which is build a crap load of tanks and storm the enemy base (point, click, done). Over...and over....and over...

There's just too much now going on with the map to keep track of. I'm more often than not cought up in a cluster **** trying to micro manage everything on the base, coordinating an attack, while protecting my base all in the same time. It kills the enjoyment of the game. Strengths and weaknesses of a unit or army groupe? You don't have enough time to care or group together an efficient group of units. It's either build or be killed.

There's also the same old balancing issues with the units. What's the point of even building an airfield when the aircraft are too expensive, too hard to keep track of, and they are just as easily replaced with a rush of flame tanks and stealth tanks. My air craft get shot down by a garrison of two rocket soldiers 2 miles away from their respected targets.

The game is likely good for the newer generation of gamers, but I can see long time C&c fans become bored with this game or even frustrated after the 2nd mission or 2nd skirmish.

I might be shooting myself in the foot by saying I think it's time for C&C series to join the fray of pop cap based games like COH. To spend an hour building 1000 units, only to watch more than half of them die senselessly, leaving only 10 or so to achieve victory seems like a defeated purpose now-a-days for strats.
