most tires have a wet traction rating of A. the Traction T/A's = AA, and stops in moderate rain like it was dry pavement.

just out of curiousity, i tried a jack rabbit start in light rain. the tires spun a little bit.

Mazda3i Automatic, tires have 5k miles.

Why did my tires spin, while people in other threads claim that they can do jack rabbit starts in light rain with traction=A tires w/o a problem?

umm it was wet, doesnt matter how good the tires are, your tires will spin if you take off fast.

I think any vehicle with proper gearing and/or torque will spin the tires in the wet.

Push your index finger down on your desk pretty hard. Now slowly try to slide it away from you. Notice how it sticks, then, all of a sudden it starts to slide? Well, tires do the same thing. It takes a certain amount of force to get them to spin, but once they are spinning, it tales a lot less force to keep them spinning.

The trick is to never exceed the "break away" force. In race car terminology it's called throttle management.

any car can spin tires... like everyone said... some easier then others.

my gf has the same tires for her lancer. i can do it as well. but its a lot harder then compared to her stock yoko's.

Not to mention it dpends on when the rain started (bringing the oils out of the road) or the volume of rain the tests are done at.

UTQG Numbers are not absolutes and should not be taken as anything more than a very rough guide to real-world performance.

QFT, I've never seen enough consistency between them to even bother looking.
