tires for high mpg?

Is it possible to buy thinner harder tires, such as those on hybrids, to increase mpg? I have to replace the tires on my camry soon, and if I can find low rolling resistance tires, then why not?

You can put a really thin tire on your car but you will give up handling and braking.

Just find the thinnest tire that wil fit your rim and install that if MPG is your biggest concern.

They are out there. You might find a forum related to the car you drive or a specific size you are looking for. The same goes for the Insight. With all but one additional tire models we lose about 10 mpg off of the stock oem tires which are Bridgestone's.

These tires will have harder compounds, be narrower, and have a less aggressive tread for highway use. It all boils down to lower mass and rolling resistance.
