Tired of waiting? nForce4 hell

I'm waiting for the major bugs to be worked out of the Nforce4 boards. And for the on-line reviews to start pouring in around the Net. While I'm at it, might as well wait for the newest A64 Venice revised cores too. 🙂

might as well keep waiting and never ever buy

I'm one of those waiting for a DFI NF4 Ultra along with an Antec P180 case - so probably a few months away still. But that's ok, it'll give me some time for the initial price fluctuations to stabilize and any first revision kinks to be worked out (although I don't expect any problems from DFI).

Edit: Oh and an ATI X800XL at MSRP or less too, don't really expect that to happen for a good month at least.

The DFI boards have already been released, but they are supposed to arrive in the US in the next couple of days.

Just checked and I think it is 2/1/05 that the DFI SLI boards will arrive and 2/03 that the NF4 Ultra-D's are supposed to arrive. I think that this was due to the fact that people have found out how to mod the DFI Ultra into an SLI baord. AT posted an article about a week ago about this subject. They took it down though.

Last AMD roadmap I saw had a 3400+ and 3700+ Venice being released in the 2nd quarter. The cost of the Venice 3400+ will probably be reasonable.

with SSE3, it will be at or above the price of a 3500+

i got my 3000+ for $162 . . . that will probably be about twice the price . . . (HEY THAT RHYMES 😀)

plus, there's also availibility issues, so i probably won't be able to find one at or near MSRP until summer

I wrote a big rant today about the nf4 wait, then the price drop wait, then about me trying to ignore the many troublesome problem posts here - but I didn't post it.

I really need a computer, don't know how much longer I can wait. I hope the DFI board is perfect , and msrp (not betting on it).

I think AT was stupid as hell to post the Ultra to SLi bit so soon. They should of waited till Ultra was in good circulation.

Because the boards are not shipping with the SLI connector. At least the DFI was supposed to ship with it, but they changed the package contents after AnandTech's article.

I'm sure you will be able to get the connector from somewhere though. I bet ABIT's Store (ABIT USA web site) will have it once their SLI boards come out.
