Tired of my tower

I currently have a phenom x6 1055t Tower with a GeForce 9600 gt.

Nowadays i rarely game anymore, except for a few sc2 sessions here and there, while mostly using it for office and web surfing purposes.

I'd like to replace it with a laptop and i am often connecting to it with a remote desktop session from an old c50.

I Will probably have a Vostro 3350 for free from a friend.

What would be best in your opinion?
1) Keep the tower only for gaming and use the vostro for everything else.
2) sell the tower and use the vostro 3350 for everything
3) sell the tower and get a used laptop with an i7 2630q and use that

We have a laptop at the house, and I don't game too much anymore, but I would really miss my desktop if I didn't have it. There are still SOME times I like to game and I like the standard keyboard/mouse/large screen I have with the desktop (which I know can just be plugged into a laptop).

In the end it is really up to you, but considering that 'keeping the desktop" option is still on the table, no need to rush into getting rid of it. Get the laptop and see how things go.

Oh, and my favorite use of a desktop that has lost its initial purpose - file server.

I would go first with option 1.

Force yourself to use the Laptop and see if it is Doing good for you.

After few weeks you might be able to make the best decision for youself.

Personally I can not stand working on laptop for long period of time (and I do have a i7-2635QM 15" Dual Graphics "fast and furious" laptop).

That said other people do like to work on laptop only.

Therefore try rather than follow other people perception of the world and regret it later.

Depends on what you mean by not gaming much. If it's that rare or with specific genre's maybe you could get a gaming laptop and just replace it entirely.

Thanks everyone for commenting so far.

I found that i like more browsing with my girlfriend by my side, so the tower is used less and less because i dont have space for two in the desk, while we can stay together on the kitchen table.
So, even though i like more my 24" dell monitor, i'm mostly on the laptop.

I really game once a week lately so not much i'd say.

The file server idea is not bad.
